What is the correct method to install water pump

What is the correct method to install a water pump on John Deere Model 70 Tractor? I have used new gaskets, attempted to install twice and still have leaks. both on the block & water pump connection to the radiator.

Buy some Gasket Maker

See this link:

http://www.permatex.com/documents/GasketMakerSelector.pdf

The sealant your going to use is blue and is Item # 81724

If it leaks after using this then you may have a cracked water pump housing in the block.

Just follow the directions on the package. There is usually a wait time before installation.

Permatex® Ultra
Blue® RTV Silicone
Gasket Maker
Item # 81724
Valve covers, oil
pans, differential
housings, intake
manifold end seals,
timing covers,
thermostat housings.
Temperature Range:
-65°F to 500°F
intermittent

There is one other sealant you can use

Permatex®
Water Pump &
Thermostat RTV
Silicone Gasket
Item # 22071
Water pump, thermostat
housings.
Temperature Range:
-65°F to 650°F
intermittent

If your housing is cracked JB Weld has a broduct called water weld that works great!

Hello. Make sure the metal surfaces are all perfectly clean and sanded smooth with emery cloth. make sure the gaskets fit well. if not trim them. Finally if all else fails use some gasket cement to insure a leak proof water pump. This gasket cement is a common item available at most hardware and auto parts stores. Joe

I have a john Deere 445 garden tractor with a coolant leak up by water pump. Would this just be a gasket or does it have a weap hole

Check hoses before you tear anything apart. The water pump could be bad as I don't think there should be any moisture around anything. Bad hose will leak some times where they fasten on the pump or could just need to be tightened.
Good luck.

No fluid from rear pump 410 john deere backhoe

1st ck hyd tank for fluid level and fluid quality 2nd remove and ck hyd filter for blockage (note some hyd filters have a water sensing block valve inside) 3 rd verify that fluid is reaching pump , pumps will make horrible noises with no fluid in them , if all are well replace pump , and ck that bypass valve is not stuck open and is set correctly (some are internal to pump )
a method i've been sucessful with is to temp power hyd system with remote from another working tractor/bobcat , this sometimes unsticks bypass valves , but unless your familiar with what fittings do what and such I don't recomend this action for novices

Kits

How do I fix a broken steele line on a John Deere 425 lawn tractor which operates the power steering and hydraulic valve body?

The easiest way is to go to a John Deere dealer with the model and serial number and old part if you have it off and buy the correct replacement part that is all bent and flafed to fit eactly where it belongs the other idea is to take the failed lint to you local auot parts store and buy a piece of steel tube of the right diameter with the correct ends, and take it home and bend it to match the failed part and reinstall it, being sure to bleed the air out of the system when you have everything re-installed. Hope this Helps Don

Ust changed the fuel pump on John Deere 6300 and will not start

Can you hear the pump run when you turn the switch on? If so, you have installed the pump correctly.
There could be an air lock...... there should be a handle somewhere for a manual pump you can loosen a fuel line connection and pump until the bubbles stop and all fuel comes out.
