Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

There is double vision at times, then it goes away.

The high voltage xfmr sounds like it is osculating. Nothing looks obviously bad, like caps or burnt power transisters.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking pic
*White looking pic
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking pic

I have a hisense hl55t40pzln3d tv and it keeps turning itself off and on...how do i fix this?

there are two major possibilities:

1. The motherboard. Not that common, but happens.

2. The power supply. Fairly common, usually bad capacitors.

If you don't feel comfortable working around relatively high voltage, you may not want to mess with it. But it's actually not that dangerous, so long as you don't go poking your hand around the power supply, or something like that.

The first step is to open it up and do a visual inspection, specifically looking for bloated or popped caps on the power supply. Popped caps can be replaced pretty easy, just look for a tutorial online.

If nothing looks visibly bad (no visually bad caps, nothing burnt) then start checking voltages using a multimeter. Remember, a capacitor doesn't need to look bad to have failed.

If you get bad voltage, and replace the caps, try replacing the voltage regulator.

If all the voltages check out, and there are no failed caps, it's probably the motherboard, and, unless it's something simple and obvious, god help you.

Double vision

In your set it is common--if the option for convergence does not now show in the main menu you have a part near the High voltage transformer b a d. There is a kit of 3 parts for this issue available.

This set is also prone to bad solder connections around the high voltage transformer (see photo) and especially at the point where that part is soldered into the board.

Bad caps can look normal but can have high ESR, you also need to check the DC voltages. You can also have bad lamp assemblies, etc.
Make and model will help also, you can look for service manual here: www.elektrotanya.com

Or www.digikey.com just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current, long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series.

D52W20 won't turn on.

Do you get the high voltage coming up? You can check for this by measuring if there's any voltage at DL231 or/and DL221 (diodes off secondary of flyback). If there is voltage momentarily then the hv is trying to come on and the Flyback is likely at fault (excessive highvoltage detected) if not then usually power supply problem is indicated - Start there - tip-use the tuner shield as ground/return

Sounds as though the output transistor(s) on the color convergence board are going bad or already have. If handy with Electronics; get service manual and check the emitter voltage.

I just replaced the toner cartridges for the second time but still find my print (text) is grey instead of black and looks like it is suffering from double vision (or I am suffering from double vision) but...

1 of two things. You have a bad heat roll in the fuser. They will wear out the teflon and cause that problem. That is the very hot area in the exit area of the machine.
Also there s a machine made by Sharp but marketed by 3 or 4 vendors, Sharp, Toshiba, Xerox and some others, where the high voltage power supply will cause that problem.
Most likely the fuser needs replaced. That is the most likely problem. I mention the high voltage power supply because it is a possibility.
