Had same problem,,, you need to perform an "Auto-Locate" With unit plugged in but not turned on, push the Page and Power buttoms at the same time,,, continue to hold down the buttons until the "I Agree" message appears. Then release the buttons, agree by pushing Enter. The system will then go through an Auto Locate sequence that corrected my problem.
Well everyday you leave it is a day less of warranty. I suspect the maps hav been corrupted If you know how to reinstall the maps then it will work. After the agree page it looks for the Exe file to load the maps. i suspect that is damaged or not there.
I am not sure if you have solved this problem but i had the same problem. On the bottom of the unit by the power supply input there is a reset button. You will need a paper clip to reach it. Depress the button and then turn the unit on. I had to do this 2 times before it took. Everything working fine now.
when you've got it on standby, press and hold the power button on the front for over 5 seconds till it beeps, then this should run the optimal screen settings and auto select to use the cables your using, hope this helps
I have a similar problem but I can't turn the GPS off at all, even when the antenna is down. As far as the power on/off cycle, I found another link on this site that said to turn off WAAS while the GPS is off then when you turn it on the unit will not power cycle continuously. You loose the WAAS feature but the GPS and unit still works.
i have a 800 also but it does not freeze because i make sure it is up to date on all firmware and software,if i was you chk out for updates on the magellan website after you register your unit then if ther is, which i know do the update and you will have no problems after that.let me know how it goes.
Reset unit, and then turn off, but hold power button for at least 10 seconds, then power back on, and when ever you turn off unit, hold power button for 10 seconds, had the same problem with mine, this solved it, it seems that just turning off the unit till screen shuts down puts it in a sleep mode. Hope this solves your problem.
