Question about ViewSonic E55 15" CRT Monitor

1 Answer

Split screen in two halves

Monitor ( lg studioworks 570le) the screen is split in two halves, on the left side the right side of the screen and on the right side the left side of the screen. I've opend the case but no disconnection. Is it repairible ?

Thanx Edwin ( the netherlands)

sometimes when we turn on the monitor the picture is on both the left and right side of the screen. The mouse pointer is no longer visable.
by re-booting the problem is solved until a few days later when it happens again.

Ther is no obvious reason although it did use to happen while watching a video on ull screen. Now it happens anytime it feels like it.

    Thanks Mergatroid

Makes sense what you say re a bad connection since it is fine 95% of the time and a re-boot does solve for awhile.

I am going to take the monitor in to the shop where there is a fast helpful teckie and I would probably just electrocute myself if I tried fooling around inside.

Wierd problem.

Smack the monitor around a little to see if there are any bad connections.

Tap it on the sides and the top. If the picture changes, you will have to either check and repair the board or take the unit in for service.

If it doesn't, then it sounds like there may be a problem in the horizontal sync circuit of the monitor. Since it is intermittent, it may be tough to solve.

Be sure to try it on another computer to make sure the fault is the monitor.

I hate to say it, but I would recommend taking the monitor to a recycler and go buy a new one. If it's a 15" monitor, it really has no value.

Where I live there is a store that sells all sorts of odds and ends. Motor parts, compressors, electrical parts, just about everything under the sun. Last time I went in, they had used 17" CRT monitors for ten dollars.

Can't beat that price. Repairing your 15" monitor will cost more than replacing it with a used monitor.

Hello
Select reset option by monitor menu, set it to default first. Then try to adjust the width and height of the screen. If this does not help you, try other resolutions set by the system.

The CRT has screen adjustments, there is a screen adjustment button on the monitor that will allow you to adjust the width of the image as well as the height etc.

There are 3-4 patches of colours on the sides of screen what is the problem in the monitor ?????

Sounds like a magnetism prob on your monitor. It happens occasionally and/or if a magnetic force has gotten close to the screen on CRT monitors. Speakers have magnets inside and many people place their speakers right next to their monitors. For your LG Studioworks 700S. I located a manual here:

http://safemanuals.com/user-guide-instructions-owner-manual/LG/700S-_E

Inside, on page A7 it indicates that the monitor has a "Degauss" feature. Activate it and your screen will jump around a bit before straightening out. This helps to restore the image.

Flickering at bottom left hand corner of screen

Remove every Electromagnetic interference source in a 50 CM radius: speakers (low cost speakers are unshielded), fan, transformer, UPS.
Make a symple test using an AM radio: if you ear noise when approaching the area (screen Off) remove the source of interference.
Some time a different orientation of devices will fix the problem.
It worked for me

Strange Display Issue

Although it could be a monitor problem, try deleting it from the Device Manager list under Monitor.
Then reboot your PC and if you are lucky, Windows will find it and reinstall the necessary driver.
Considering that it is an LCD, there aren't many ways it can cause that kind of display.
