Check door switch: If the lid switch is bad it will not drain or spin. Try this test: With lid open let it finish wash cycle. Press lid switch down with screwdriver. Washer should begin draining. Release switch. Motor should stop. Press switch a second time. Washer should start spinning as it continues to drain. If motor doesn't come on while lid switch is pressed, replace the switch. it sounds like the spider gear is bad, this is usually from using to much detergent, you can check the shocks but it sounds like the gear is gone.you'll know when it's the gear,it's very loud in the spin cycle, unfortunitly the gear is around 4 to 5 hundred dollars and then there's the labor bill, most likely better off replacing the washer.check out this video and you'll hear the sound i'm talking about.......

2 possible issues with your washer. 1 or both the support shocks or springs have broken the drum would look off center even when empty or rear bearring has worn out. this is a very common problem with the fridgidaire washer... (this kenmore is a frigidaire model) problem is caused by very hard water (well water) or improper use of detergent. this machine uses a High efficency type detergent, marked by "HE" on the detergent container
this is the site to find out how to fix your washer. you have a broken drive coupling. it probably wont agitate or spin, but will fill and drain. you need to remove 2 screws from the control panel, hinge it back and then remove the 2 brass colored clips that hold the cabinet to the base. once you do then pull the entire cabinet forwards to a 45 degree angle and pull it off the base. then pull the 2 clips off pump and then 2 more on the motor. that will allow you to get to the drive coupling. you will find it to be broken. replace it with part number 285753a for about 15-20 bucks.
