Hello, the durabrand GPX cd player does not have a volume control aside from the preset it came with from the manufacturing company.this has been a major complain from a whole lot of buyers, and the only advice i give to them is just to see if they can change the speakers and get a better one, simply because the one that came with it is not of good quality.am so sorry for you witnessing that horrible sound.aside from the four equalizer settings it has which is not that effective on the system.
As a matter of fact, the volume cannot get better than that and can not also be reduced.this has been a great factory failure.
wish you good luck,

take care.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Toyota vehicles have a fuse in the kick for the amp and sometimes there is located under the hood ... This is the switch turn on for the amp ... And 1 of the fuses is most likely the memory or constant power. B sure to check all fuses ... I do not have AllData pulled up . If the fuses are all good the amp or radio may be bad ... Or both ... Be sure to check all the fuses ... Many times I get clients that say allthe fuses are good and it is still the first thing I check ..Usually is a fuse ..Good Luck

Volume is too loud

change the function to cd or aux before you turn it off and then change the volume before going to your preferred function. It is the only way around it.

Return it as defective. A replacement may work satisfactorily.

Default volume for durabrand hm3817dt

It appears there is no "good solution."

BUT! I didn't discover that this unit is not actually made by Durabrand. It's made by GPX and I've included a link to the user manual for this product (It's the same model, but the GPX version is black and sports the GPX logo).

Durabrand CD Home Music System - Volume default

HM3817DTBLK:Default volume

I sent a note to the manufacturer. Communication attached below.

Dear Customer,
We thank you for your interest in GPX and our products. We apologize, but the volume level on the unit is a factory setting that we are not able to override or alter.
Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Best Regards,

The default volume is set way too high on this radio. It is at 17 and we would like to reset it to a much lower level. How do I do this?

Setting the volume

There is no fix to this problem. I emailed GBX, who makes the same stereo (same model number) and they said it is a factory setting that can't be overridden or changed. I bought mine for work and my office is made up of open cubicles - I'll be returning it tomorrow.

The volume is way to high even on the lowest setting

Sorry I don't have a solution. We have this model and ours is loud also, at the very lowest setting. I disconnected some of the speakers, and sometimes have to put the working speakers into a drawer to lower the sound.
