Fixing RCA TV Model R52WM24YX61 with rainbows

Check its degaussin posistor. Replace it. This component can be located at the main power regulator section.

hows the picture? is it 3d looking? do you have the convergence option in the setup menu

He may have caused some type of damage to the picture tube, but usually rainbow effects happen when magnets are present. Perhaps the ball became charged with a large amount of static, which then discharged across the tube, damaging the controlling circuits.

shadow mask is warped. tv might have been dropped. crt is bad(picture tube). try deguassing it. if you dont know what that is take it to your local service center. the rainbow effect is a magnetic field of some sort. try unplugging and move to a different location. could be a speaker too close to tv.

if this is a distorted kind of rainbow aura affecting the colour, you need to de-gauss the screen - a good tv repair man will have the mains powered magnet to fix this - and shouldn't charge alot.

hi there.its likely that the lower y-drive panel has died.this is a very common problem with this model.the easy way is to remove the panel from the set completely,power it up and you should be greeted with the top half of the picture.this means ic failure,usually the bottom one for some odd reason.not replaceable unless you have the gear,these ics are available from dalbani(nikkai)for those interested.be extra careful with the four ribbon cables when removing/refitting.damage to these writes off the display panel.hope this helps somewhat,regards,steve.
