Reset the router in admin mode and reload the settings again,
also make a new user account and save the password info so you can access it again later

I have an example of a router setup,
the basic steps are similar and easy to understand too,

check my tpis and tricks on this link below.....

Have a router but not software for linksys, have reset the router but don;t know how to put in new password

Welcome to fixya

No proplem you don't need a software cd to secure the router. Please follow the steps

Click the below link
http://192.168.1.1

Now it will ask for username and password

Enter username = ( blank) and password = admin
If you can't login using this credentials then you will have to reset the router

If you logged in . Then click on Wireless > Wireless security

On this screen select

Security Mode : WPA Personal
WPA Algorithm : TKIP
WPA shard Key : "enter a password here"
Group Key Renewal : set to default

Click on save settings. After that restart router .
Now your wireless network is secured and you will have to type the WPA shared key inorder to connect to router when it prompts

Thanks

With security disabled the wireless works fine. But will not connect to the
internet with WEP security on. I tried to use the CD install disk that comes
with the router but ir does not help.
Any help would be apreciated

How can I secure my wireless connection?

By using a WEP key, please find your manual below, download it, and go to SECURITY, it shows one step by step how to set your WAP/WEP "KEY" Once set, you are secure. As to logon to the WiFi network, you need the special "KEY" to do so.

Local acces only means that your conenction is ok justthat the network security on your router and laptop is not the same try removing the erouter security or try changing the security in your laptop to match what the router has .........

Cannot get a second computer on my secure wireless network

Have you set the properties on the second computer to match the security expected by the router? Since one computer works I would compare the settings for the network connection and set the second computer to the same.

Linksysfix.com/ela does not exist??

if you already have a wireless setup the latop (if it has wireless) will pick up the wireless router (if security on the wireless network, just type in the security password). Type 192.168.1.1 into your browser to access the routers configuration page.
