Question about Toshiba Satellite 1415-S173 Notebook

1 Answer

Memory Upgrade Problems with Toshiba Satellite 1415-s173. Upgraded memory from 256 x 1 pc 2100 (original samsung came with laptop) to 256 x 2 - (Hynix pc 2700) which is the max for this model. Did go from 2100 to 2700 x 2 and this was suppose to be backward compatible and ok to do. Purchased new memory from OEMPCworld and verified it would be compatible before I bought it. It seemed to work at first - then started freezing up and now just keeps re-booting and shuts down. I need to install a new 160gb to replace the 30gb but obviously cannot attempt that until I can figure this one out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Without a bios update and updated operating system the ram may not work properly. Also the memory itself may be faulty.Verification of compatibility doesn't really guarantee the ram will actually work properly when seated. You should have used 2 pc2100 ram sticks.

Remove the CMOS battery from the motherboard. Turn it over, open it up, and look for a little watch battery.

Boot via LAN

The wake up on LAN is usually setup from the BIOS configuration.
If you BIOS doesn't have this option then it is not possible.
