  1. I had the same problem and was able to fix it myself pretty easily. Here were my symptoms. ND code meaning the washer is not draining. Water left in the drum. Noise like the pump is trying to drain, but water does not drain. Here were the steps I followed to fix the problem.

  2. UNPLUG THE WASHER

  3. shopvac out the water from inside the washer

  4. remove the back panel, two philips screws and slide up and out

  5. identify the pump motor. it is screwed to the bottom of the washer with 3 big phillips screws/bolts. it can also be identified by the fact that the outlet hose is attached to it.

  6. remove the inlet and outlet hoses. use needle nose pliers to take off the clamps and slide the hoses off. have the shopvac on to suck up the water that spills out.

  7. pry up the white cover that protects the wire connection. once this is up, you can see the tab to press to detach the wire harness from the pump motor.

  8. remove the motor assembly by unscrewing the 3 mounting screws with either a big philips screwdriver or a socket wrentch

  9. take the pump assembly to a work table and remove the white plasic cover held on by a single philips screw. slide it off

  10. remove the remaining 3 philips screws. grab the outside of the motor near the impeller and wiggle it out. note that there is a rubber o-ring seal. dont lose it and ensure it is in the same place when reassembling.

  11. pull the impeller from the motor. This will remove a cylinder magnet from the body of the motor. the cylinder magnet is wrapped around the shaft of the impeller. basically, when the magnet rotates inside the motor, the impeller rotates. now, if you grab the magnet and rotate the impeller, you will see that it can turn. THIS IS THE PROBLEM. the impeller and the magnet are supposed to rotate together.

  12. pull the impeller shaft from the middle of the magnet. it will slide out a plastic sleeve. from the other end, you can slide the plastic sleeve out from the magnet. note what end goes where; they are slightly different

  13. i asked you to do this to illustrate that the hole in the sleeve is not a circle, but rather an oval. you need to wedge something into the top of the oval; thats the end goal. slide the log plastic sleeve back into the magnet. note that there are horizontal markings on the magnet that show where the oval goes "high".

  14. look at the steel impeller shaft. see the two notches? thats the key to your fix. thats where you need to insert wedges. find some small gauge solid wire and cut it to the length of the notch. i used coax cable wire, but could have used something slightly larger. the wire has to fit on the top of the notch and wedge itself into the top of the oval. this is what is needed so that the shaft and magnet "become one". This will take a little work on your part, but its worth the money saving.

  15. once you slide the impeller back into the plastic sleeve with the wires installed on the notches, the impeller will now turn will the magnet.

  16. reassemble in the reverse order. good luck.

SOURCE: Samsung WF317 Front Load Washer code nd

Check the drain pump itself. But at the same time if your clothes are still sudsy it sounds like it is not going through all the cycles. Almost like it is skipping a cycle

Nd code, water left in tub with the nd error code. What could be the problem?

sounds like your fill tube has been flooded, there is a plastic tubing that detects water pressure of the water sounds like it has been removed and now has water in it, which is not letting it drain all the way because the vacuum is picking up it is empty when the spin cycle stops and why it stops open the machine if you havent already and look for it the hose and a float valve work together to stop water when full and shut off the pump when empty this seems to be your problem. this fill valve and if it has the fill tube make sure there is no fluid in it also.

How to fix nd code

ND means no drain. The issue could be using the wrong detergent. IT could also be something stuck in the filter or the pump.

Washer machine shows "ND" and doesnt got in to spin cycles or drain water out

The most likely cause for your issue is excess debris in the pump strainer, or a bad impeller on the pump. If you have a front small trap door on the front left or right, follow the instructions in your manual for cleaning out the trap. If the trap is empty, or does not exist on the exterior, you may need an experienced repair man to open the machine up to get to the pump strainer and check the drain pump. Pleazer Appliance...

My washer stops before the rinse cycle because it can't seem to drain enough to start the spin cycle. I just had the drain motor replaced one month ago. I get the error code nd. I can sto the cycle and...

I'd love to say yes! The machine is stopping because it will not drain. This is what the nd code means. Therefore, it will not rinse (add more water) or spin because the water level is already too high and to try to "spin it out" would put too much pressure on the machine with that much water in it. Drain out the water by putting the drain hose below the level of the washer (this takes forever) and call your repair man back!

Error code nD, won't go into spin cycle

Is the Machine a FAV6800A or a FAV9800A?

Do you want to DIY the fix?

The nd error code = No Drain error code.

You could have drain line clog, an issue with the drain pump or a stuck pressure switch. Do you hear the machines drain pump turn on and pump out water before entering lnto the spin cycle? Is there water left in the tub with the nd error code? If you can provide feedback on the questions above I will help guide through the troubleshooting steps.

You will need the Service Manual to troubleshoot.

Code nd FAV6800AWW, Serial number 10

Hello HopelessR,
Don’t buy a clutch I don’t feel it’s a clutch issue at this point. I hope you can hang in there for some basic troubleshooting. I’m an owner like you not a repair person but I have worked some issues. I feel with the info supplied that you have a true “nd” alarm. The “nd” alarm is triggered when the washer fails to drain completely as monitored by the pressure switch input to the control board and the factory program time limit required for draining the washer. I have never experienced an “nd” alarm until this evening. This was a user induced “nd” failure by pumping wash water back into the tub during the drain cycle of Quick Wash cycle. I started a Quick Wash cycle with no clothes in the washer and with the remaining three settings set to min settings. At the 22 min mark the washer started the drain pump and began a slow spin CCW of the wash basket. It took several minutes of pumping wash water back into the wash tub to trigger “nd” alarm. The washer indicated time stayed at the 21 min mark until the “nd” alarm triggered. 1st test; could you start a Quick Wash cycle with what you would consider a full wash load with the settings I mentioned and let’s see what the results are. I don’t feel you have a clutch issue with no dc/UC error codes to the console. I believe at this point that you have a drain restriction problem. I can’t explain why the washer completes the cycle with the wash basket empty at this point. The 2nd test, do you have a deep sink you can pump the wash water into and observe the stream output? The stream my FAV6800AWW will produce is about a 3” vertical column of water out of the drain pipe held over the deep sink with the drain pump running and no clothes in the wash basket. If you have a deep sink and a helper that can turn on the drain pump in service mode as outlined below we can compare your drain pump output to mine.
You can turn on the drain pump in Service Mode with the process below.
1. Enter Service Mode by pressing both the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys simultaneously until the washer beeps.

2. Next you need to go into the Board Output Test by pressing the Delicates key; your display should now read “ot”.

3. Now press the Presoak key this will start the drain pump and it should begin to empty the tub.

You can press the Off button to stop the drain pump.
If the output stream is low we can troubleshoot the restriction starting at the Sump Cap Item 9 and work back toward the drain pump.
I’ll hang in there with you if you want to continue to troubleshoot the issue. Maybe we can get some suggestions from other forum members. Rich
