Question about Canon Pixma MP450 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

5100 service error. The solution posted Apr 29, 2010, by Mukhtar, says: 1. Hold RESUME then press & hold POWER 2. Release RESUME, then press it twice, the light should go amber then green again. 3. you're now in service mode (you can release POWER now) My PIXMA MP450 does not have either a RESUME or POWER button. There is an ON/OFF button at top left. The other buttons on left are labeled: COPY; SCAN; MEMORY CARD, and below that, Photo Index Sheet Buttons on right side, left-to-right and top-to-bottom: Menu; Settings; Stop/Reset OK (big circle w/4 arrows/triangles; and Start buttons, Black on top, Color on bottom; Then way below the Menu button: Back. Hello, emissionwiz. Thanks for your response.

I was not the originator of the inquiry to "Mukhtar"; rather, my printer started doing this "5100 service error," off and on, a few days ago, and now it's totally jacked, so I went online looking for assistance or an answer and came across that post.

I am in urgent need of getting my printer back up and running. Can you please help?
    Thx,
    Ken

You need to address this to the original expert that gave u the solution, not post another problem and start all over again, to do this either use the email link sent to u when the expert answered you or go to top right of this page and click on "My Profile" on the next page that opens go to the bottom of the page and find "My Problems" then click on the original problem u posted and contact the expert who helped u in the 1st place.

I am not familiar with this brand, sorry just trying to get u started to a successful fix, but based on my experience i will bet the printer is defective and u won't get it fixed anytime soon, they are so cheap to buy that repair by a shop is out of the question, average repair cost is around $100-200

Error 5100 what is the problem

5100 is a carriage error, check the timing strip for contamination(plastic strip about 1/4" in width)
The unit is not homing, check for obstructions.

1. hold RESUME then press & hold POWER
2. release RESUME, then press it twice, the light should go amber then green again.
3. you're now in service mode (you can release POWER now)

I think waste tank reset is 4 presses of the RESUME button. To confirm, press POWER once.
