Question about Dell Dimension 3000 PC Desktop

CAN'T GET TO CHANGE DIALUP SETTING

RECIEVED A dELL dIMENSION 3000 FROM INLAWS. We have a DSL with a LYNKS System also for laptops. When turning on the Dell I get the sign on screen,then a Windows activation screen. States that I have no internet connection. Help I need to check if the settings arn't set to dialup. Really need HELP

To make sure settings are not set up to dial go to internet options and click on connections and make sure nothing is in that box. If there is something delete it. Once you check this go to network connections in control panel and make sure there are no dial up connections. If any just delete it. Hope this helps.

I've got a virus on my inlaws dell. It keeps


Remove any previously installed Spyware programs / download Malwarebytes Anti malware update off internet / disable Antivirus program and install.

Go to safe mode and access Malwarebytes / run through and remove all offending programs. Run a couple of times. Then reboot and run in windows.

this is not your system problem. it is your wire problem. You need to change your hard drive cable then try.

Check cables. Maybe you knocked something loose. Do you have cable/dsl or dialup?

Make sure your network adaptor has link light lit up.

Do you get any errors?

Need to reboot my dell/windowsXP hard drive to factory settings


You have to put in the cd that came with your dell, then boot your computer. It will boot from the cd and give you an option to restore your factory condition. It will take around 1-2 hours for the process to complete.

Ethernet Controller


I had to reinstall XP like 6 months ago, on a dimensions 3000. just reinstall the drivers. here i think this is all of the drivers.
just start "Dell Driver Reset Tool.EXE"
and run "Sownd driver for 3000.EXE"
driver for vga "Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller.exe"

and the Ethernet driver "Intel PRO100 VE Network Connection.exe"

Dial up problems


In order to help you further I need the following questions answered:
What OS are you currently running?
Are you connected to a landline dialup or DSL?
Because if you are using dialup, that is your problem right there! Most of the people who are still using dial connections instead of DSL or Cable will have these problems. Technology is evolving so fast that even the phone companies seem to have trouble tell their customers that dialup is a problem because they are not supporting it anymore. They are selling it, but not supporting it because of DSL, FIOS, and cable.
You may want to upgrade, because even if the problem is resolved you will still encounter problems due to the lack of support!
