Microwave Fuse keeps blowing

We have a GE Spacesaver model JVM1660WB 003 which keeps blowing the fuse. We have checked and replaced the fuse and that doesn't seem to be the problem. Is there a relay switch somewhere that could be the problem. The lights and timer, message panel, etc all work until you try to cook something. Any ideas???

GE Model# JVM1650CH01 Microwave Oven trips the circuit breaker, 1-2 secods after the microwave is turned on to cook. All other features works, i.e. vent, lights, clock.

    I have a similar problem. GE Model# JVM1650CH01 Microwave Oven. Sometimes 1-2
seconds after pressing "start" it just shuts off, and acts like it "reboots". I have to reset the clock time and date. Then try to cook again. Sometimes it will then cook normally. Most times it just keeps on shutting down and rebooting itself.

We have an 8-year old GE Profile Spacemaker jvm1660bb003 that suddenly started working intermittently. Sometimes after pressing start the light goes on, but nothing else is happening. The turntable doesn't turn on neither does the fan or the motor. We unplugged and plugged it back in and so far it seems to be working fine. Any clues on this one?

    Thanks!

If it went dead almost immediately after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a shorted high-voltage capacitor.

If it went dead a few seconds after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a failing high-voltage transformer.

If you or someone you know decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel, which is very helpful when troubleshooting.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

My range works and oven lights? Does this mean that the problem is the Relay or the thermostat? The heating elements for the broiler/oven look fine and so do the connections?

Microwave Spacesaver #JUM 2050BH001not heating

HI. in most cases, this will lead to a failed Heating device(magnetron tube). It would be wise to check the Magnetron cutoff fuse to be sure of its integrity. if the fuse is blown, simply replace it. if the fuse continues to show continuity, replace the magnetron.

Fuse keeps blowing.

couple questions -
what else is on the circuit,
and what current does the oven need

there are whirlpool over-range models with
1200watts of microwave,
1500watts of convection power, a
60watt bulb and a
375watt fan

over 15amps -20amp circuit needed

if you inadvertantly replaced a higher current fuse with a 15amp fuse, it will blow every time.
the install guide http://www.whirlpool.com/assets/pdfs/product/ZINSTALL/8206589.pdf reccommends 20amp
not a solution, something to check,

Where do I find the fuse?

yes you do and this is not reall advisable as there is high voltage components inside.thre is normally a fault with the machine if it blows a fuse.if you want to still try then make sure yoiu unplug it and short the plug on some metal to get rid of any stored charge.the main things to blow a fuse is the door switches sticking, the bulb blowing or a fault with the high voltage system which you would need a special multimeter to yest, hope this helps

GE Spacesaver doesn't heat

if you are as lucky as i was...i have a ge spacesaver model jvm130...same problem. first unplug unit and check fuse on the "power control module". if fuse is ok...unscrew the screws holding the "power control module" in place...carefully tilt module and see if a solder joint needs to be re-soldered. my problem was the solder joint under the front plug (5 large wire plug). you may have to unplug the three connectors to the board to get access to bottom. this is the second time i had to re-solder...last one was several years ago though. best of luck tennisrme
