Hi, I am installing a newer stereo into my 87 volvo 240dl wagon... Having trouble with a couple wires as to where they attach.

Red is for constant power, yellow is for ignition power, blue is for an electric antenna, black is ground. The others are for the speakers. - 2blue, 2green, 2purples, 2whites. If you don't have an electric antenna , don't use the wire. Also if you extra wires for the vehicle this is common. don't use them. Hope this helps. Randy

I want to connect an mp3 player but i only have a cd player, is there a line-in jack somewhere in the car or behind the stereo

No jack on factory stereo. You'll have to use either a cassette adapter or an FM adapter; both plug into your regular mp3 line out. Cassette adapters are not as reliable but cheap and don't use power, while FM adapter requires power (from 12V or battery) and is more expensive.

Replacing radio with an after market cd player in a 1999 ford au sedan jjust need to know what color wires what on the car

  • You did not list the model of Ford Sedan you are inquiring about. Here is a link that has quite a lot or car stereo wiring diagrams http://www.modifiedlife.com/request-a-ford-car-radio-stereo-wiring-diagram/ Look at the upper right of the page and scroll down a little bit as I have it on Ford vehicles already. Find the make and go to the year.
  • That being said if I can make a suggestion. I have hooked up hundreds of car stereos in my life. When I pull a factory radio I don't use the same wires that powered that factory stereo to power the after market stereos, DVD players etc. I go into the dash and find suitable wires a little thicker gauge to handle to often more powerful output of the aftermarket stereos.

Regards, Tony

Power going to stero but no power coming from stero

I don?t exactly understand your question if power is going to the stereo now I guess you need power as an out put to turn on an amp. Or what is the application you need this for.

My car stereo shuts off when i adjust the volume of my amplified subwoofer

your power suplly is either not good meaning the power cable is too small or you don not have enough ground. try adding a bigger cable for ground and power (dc).
