Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

My Sony KDF-E60A20 Grand Wega television has a color problem I am unable to resolve with the Sony remote. I have gone through the Wega Gate to settings...picture with no results. Running the hue and color settings from minimum to maximum does not appear to help. The screen appears to be plenty bright. Most noticable are incorrect skin tones. When adjusting, I cannot feed in red color. Skin tones appear as sickly greenish cast. The overall pictures have a golden or yellowish overall tint with predominant blues. I have considered replacing the lamp but reading various forums on-line seem to suggest that something else may be amiss since the lamp most controls brightness and dims when the lamp is going out. I see the tv is rated for 6,000 hours or thereabouts depending on location. I have nowhere near that running time on the tv. My 3-year warranty ran out 2 months ago...lucky me. I hate the thought of buying a new lamp if that is not the problem. I'm wondering if I am missing any diagnostic I can manage. I have not noticed it but my son-in-law thinks the tv may be somewhat slow in turning on.

Do a factory reset to this set, and then check. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done.

SOURCE: color issue

What you are seeing is the degradation of hte "light engine". This is normal with extended use. You can try blowing out the area with compressed air to clean out any dust. But any LCD based projection system is subject to this breakdown over time. Can you further describe what you mean by overall picture quality? Is it out of focus? do you see separate colors (convergence problem)?

SOURCE: Bright blue patch in center of screen.

The optical block is going bad. Contact Sony support and have your model and serial numbers handy. Sony sometimes warranties these even after the 1yr factory warranty.

There are only two possibilities for this problems for this tv.One: the tv incomming broadcasting signal cable wire that is plugging into ur tv Tuner signal board could be bad.U can test this out the incomming broadcasting signal cable wire is good or bad pretty easily by just plug it into another tv to find out the incomming signal cable wire is bad or good. Two: If the tv incomming broadcasting signal cable wire is good by plug it into a another tv.Than ur tv the tv Tuner signal board is the causes and the problems. The tv Tuner signal board CPU chip is bad.U can do some mechanical work like take things aparts and putting it back together again?Yes.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish tv Tuner signal board for the replacement.

Replace lamp in tv because symptom shows lamp is near to end of its working hours life and causing that problem.
If lamp has not been replaced in tv in last 2-3 years, its time to replace it to solve the issue.
Lamp replacement procedure is easy and written in user manual.
Thanks.
