Question about Olevia Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have an Olevia Model 437 LCD TV. I recently removed the cable box and returned to basic cable that requires a direct connection from the cable coax to the TV. I can receive audio/video, but cannot get the TV to scan and remember channels. In fact, the menu will not go far in the sequence. I can enter channels manually via the remote, but can't scroll because it won't scan channels initially. Even the cable tech could not get it to work. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

There is an old VCR I can try to use. Appreciate the tip. I've never been behind this TV before, so this is all new to me.

Hi,
Olevia went out of business because of bad customer support. So getting information can often times be difficult. Have you attempted the channel scan? is it on ANT instead of CATV? If you still have trouble an easy work around is to hook up the cable to a VCR and then to the TV and use your VCR as the channel tuner. If you have any other questions let me know.
Thank you,
Lee

    Ok,
If you need any other help let me know. Just run the coaxial cable to the coax in on the vcr then from the coax out on the vcr to the coax in on the tv where the cable from the wall should be plugged into the tv now. Please take a moment to accept/rate my solution when you find it appropriate.
    Thank you,
    Lee

Is there any way to connect basic cable to the tv without using a converter box or anything else

Recently, I dropped HBO with my cable company and there dont have a box. Since the Maxent 42 is only a monitor and doesnot have a tuner...there is no where to plug cable from the wall to the tv.
Solution...plug cable from wall to VCR/DVD and then use RCA cables (Red,White and Yellow cables) from output from VCR/DVD. works great.

I have an Olevia 23t lct hd tv. I am plugged in

you said you are using composite cables..? that means you have some kind of cable box ? if you want to get HD channels you have to use a HD box that is supplied by the cable company.. the HD cable box then has to connect to the tv with component cables (green, blue, red cables) or HDMI cable.. to send the HD signal to the television.

I have an Olevia tv model 437-S11 that won't power up.

Hi there
I solved my problem by downloading new software from I can't remember the website (it's been about 5 months) and loading it via USB cable. I can't believe it worked but it did. You should try Google search and look for troubleshooting tips for your tv. Include model and serial numbers. When you download new software make sure you have the correct software version and find and follow directions as to how to get it done. Let me know if it worked for yah...Good luck and a happy new year.

No cable signal on 32" flat panel Olevia tv

When you write 'tuner,' do you mean the internal TV tuner or do you have a cable box between the wall connector and your set's input?

If you are connected from the wall to the set, then the sensitive circuitry (it may only tolerate a few volts max video) is damaged.
If your set was a couple of decades old, it might be fairly easy to repair.

If the set was damaged via the cable service, you may have some recourse unless your cable provider has seen fit to absolve themselves from liability, I suspect they have.

I do not know your set but it is not impossible that the video input circuitry for cable and antenna is on a smaller assembly that processes it before reaching the main board.
The latter has obviously survived since you still have the other functions.

You can hook up direct but you will not get hi def channels, only the standard or digital depending on your hook up.
