I have a brother printer, Model Number HL-2700cn, serial no u60767M4S142278. I just bought a lap top and wireless broadband router. In order to connect the printer to my wireless lap top I need the IP address of the printer. Can you help?

The Automatic Private IP Addressing (APIPA) protocol
automatically assigns an IP address from the range:
169.254.1.0 to 169.254.254.255. If the APIPA protocol is
disabled, the default IP address of a Brother print server is
192.0.0.192. To change it, use the printer control panel (if
applicable), the BRAdmin Professional, Web BRAdmin software
or let your DHCP server allocate an IP address to the printer.
2 Refer to chapter 10 of this User’s Guide to learn how to
configure the IP address on your printer.
3 The default password for Brother print servers is access.
4 Windows® 2000/XP users can print using TCP/IP using the
standard Network Printing software and IPP protocol software

The wps pin method is bit tricky however it will help you get the work done. you need few details upfront in order to connect brother printer with wifi using wps pin method. details such as -

Your router must be an wps Enable Router that support WPS Pin method
default router details such as default ip address or web address to access the portal
Router admin username and password

HL 2700cn red and green lights flashing simultaneously - alarm and go buttons.. have switched on/off opened every door to see if a jam has occurred. The printer does not give any clue as to what the...

I have similar symptoms with my HL 2700CN. However, web interface to printer shows device status and reports "Missing Tray 1" error. (Tray 1 is present). Printer Firmware version number is reporting junk number, implies possible firmware corruption. I'm still investigating.

Should be able to set all computers to default to Brother printer in the preferences section of the printer control panel ( look in 'control panel' of computer). You ca n also download manual from Brother website. Just type make and model + word Manual into search engine, and it should throw up the appropriate link.
