When you disconnect your battery and then reconnect it again, it disables the radio. This is an anti-theft protection for your car radio.
The enable your radio the activation code is in your vehicle owner's manual. If you do not have this code you need to go to your vehicle manufacturer's service centre and get them to enter this code for you.

How to unlock radio from a2001 chey cavalier

see this technique and fix it. God bless you
Instructions
  1. With the Unlock Code
    • 1 Locate the anti-theft/unlock code. Most cars have a special anti-theft radio card that is included with the owners manual packet containing the unlock code and serial number. Some cars also have the code in the car manual or inside the glove compartment. You will need this code in order to unlock your car radio.
    • 2 Turn the car's ignition switch to the "on" position. This turns on your car's electrical system and powers up the radio. The word "CODE" will display on the screen. Note: depending on the manufacturer some radios will display either "ENTER" or "LOC" on the screen instead.

    • 3 Enter the anti-theft/unlock radio code. Press the "Tune" button on your stereo. It will change the screen from "CODE" to blank. Press the button to scroll through the available numbers. When you reach the correct number press the button once and hold it down for a few seconds. The number will appear on the display and you can now repeat the process to input the second number, third number etc., until all of the numbers are in. If you entered the code correctly the car stereo will unlock and instantly become functional. Depending on your car manufacturer, if you enter the code incorrectly you will not be able to re-enter it again from 1 to 24 hours.
    Without the Unlock Code
    • 4 Call your car manufacturer directly. Your car manufacturer's phone number is in your owner's manual. Ask to be connected to the support department. Tell them you need to reactivate you car stereo and you will be asked for proof of ownership. They will need your car's VIN number, the account number from your bill of sale and a form of personally identifiable information like your driver's license. You may need to fax this information. Once everything checks out the manufacturer will give you the code.
    • 5 Enter the code and unlock your stereo. Use the code you received from the manufacturer to unlock and and activate your car stereo.
    • 6 Go to a car dealership. Take your car to its manufacturer dealership to get the stereo unlocked. For example, if your car is a Honda go to a Honda dealership. Once you have proven that you are the owner of the car, the dealership will be able to retrieve the code from the manufacturer and activate the radio for you.

What is the security code for the radio in my 1997 Ford Falcon EL still has original radio and I put in new car battery and now i cannot turn the radio on unless i put in the code

If you can find the security code which should be printed on the stereo manual in your glove box. It will be a 3-5 digit code and you will need to either enter it by pushing the pre-tune buttons or scrolling with the tuner knob or toggle. If you do not get it entered correctly within the first couple of tries, the stereo may lock you out for 30 minutes to an hour until you can try again. In some brands of stereos you may have to leave the car running and the stereo on for the entire period that you are locked out before your next attempt.

If you cannot find your original code you could just head to the nearest dealership (provided that it is the stereo that was installed by the car manufacturer) and ask if they can print the number out for you to do it yourself. Some dealers may want to see your registration and ID so be prepared to show them. If they insist that they need to have a technician fix it the cost will be around $40.

If it is not a factory stereo then a qualified sound shop might be able to help you with a little persuasion.

Once you have the code make sure that you stow a copy in the glove box so that if it should happen again.

Also your Ford dealer will supply the radio code (small fee) but you will need to supply the part number and the radio chassis number (ending with a letter) usually 8/9 digits.Removal of radio unit required or a long shot it will be in the service / warranty documents which came with the car..... Some sites on the web will also supply but it's your choice !

Replaced battery in 1996 Honda Accord which deactivated radio.

You need to code ..punch in code then power radio up and it will work. For a fee if its the original radio for this car the code can be retrieved by the dealer. If you entered to code incorrectly more than 4 times you will need to disconnect battery for 30 second and re-enter code. good luck and thanks for using FIX YA

My radio is aking for a code

It is the anti-theft code.  Check your owners manual, as the 4 digit code may be written down somewhere by the original owner.  If you can't find the code, you'll need to call a dealer.  If the radio is original, they can look up the code by your VIN number.  Otherwise you'll need to pull the radio out and find the serial number and they can look it up that way.  The dealer should provide this over the phone free of charge.  If they tell you that you have to bring the car in and charge you, then call another dealer.  You enter the code using the station preset buttons 1-6.

I have a 2001 Acura CL S-type, I took out the radio to install a converter, the fuse had blew out so replace and now the radio screen keep saying code, I need the code to unlock the radio.

Assuming your radio is the original for this vehicle you simply take your vehicle ownership and registration papers to the workshop of your car manufacturer and they can get the code from the Ford computer network on the spot.

If the code does not work then it means that this radio is not the original for your car as it would have been replaced with them radio model.
If your radio is an after vehicle purchase, you may need to contact the radio manufacturer.
Or get their contact details through your local car audio dealer.
