Question about Plumbing

1 Answer

Kitchen sink clogged up , ran a roto rooter that you buy at the stores through the outside access and nothing happened. did the plunger thing on the sink and again its still backed up. I thought that maybe the vent up on the roof would be clogged, but I dont think so, cause my washer is drainin. and that runs off the same vent. HELP

Check the traps on the sink for clog and maybe if it has a turn in the wall it may be clooged .

You can disassemble the drain under sink and try and auger there.

Or if you can get acces to an air tank you can make up a fitting to screw on drain under sink and put air on it to try and free blockage.

A saniflo toilet that won't flush properly (the bowl fills up to the top when flushed). The water then drains but really really slowly, over the course of several hours. Can I pour unblocker down it?

of course you can or perhaps use a plunger. depends on what has caused the blockage . if it is tree roots then only a roto rooter will do any good .

Shower and bath sink wont drain.

Bath sink will be on what is called a "wet vent" for the shower.
That means they are on the same drain.
There should be a cleanout on the sink drain below where the drain enters the wall. That would be your "last resort" access to put a snake in to break up the obstruction.
I would try using a plumbers suction plunger on the shower drain.
Show no mercy!

Roto rooter the drain pipe in the wall. It's plugged. The water goes up the vent pipe to the roof that's why the water comes back in the sink when you shut off the disposer.

Motor comes on; but does not cut the waste. Water

The water staying in the unit suggests the drain is clogged. Usually this happens outside the disposal, at the T-junction in the drain lines. Unless your plumbing is *very* old, the drain lines should be PVC with large nuts that can be removed by hand.
Use a bucket below the junction as you take things apart to catch the water. Keep in mind that below each nut, inside the joint, there is typically a translucent washer (triangular cross section) around the pipe - don't lose this, or your joints will leak when reassembled.
This job isn't tough, but it is messy. If you have any doubts about reassembly, take photos before taking things apart, so you have a guide to work from.

New Koehler Cimmaron keeps clogging

Does it clog on the first flush or does it take a couple? If it clogs on the first then it could be that you have an offset closet flange. That means that when the home was built, the plumber who roughed in the plumbing made a mistake in where the drain went so when it was time to set the flange, it was too close to the wall or some other item in its way. The only thing that can be done is to jack hammer the slab and run a new drain at a less radical angle. If its not a slab, then it's easier to take care of but you will have get under the house or cut an access hole in the floor. If it takes a couple of flushes, buy what is called a "blow bag". Its a black rubber cylinder that you hook to a water hose. Push the bag down the drain as far as it will go and turn the water on and let it run for 15 to 20 minutes. It will flush out anything that will be in the drain. Also there could be a crack in the drain that is catching toilet paper. You might consider having someone with a camera come and look at the drain from the inside. Hopefully I have covered every possibility.

Clogged sink after using garbage disposal

You have a clogged trap. Try a plunger, draino or disconnect the trap and clean it

could be just the trap. try a simple plunger. gather some water in the sink and plunge the drain. if that doesn't work you might need to take the trap off. unless you are mechanic savvy i dont personaly recomend doing this. other wise its time to call the plumber. sorry. your last bet is to try a pipe snake. i found mine at an estate sale. im thinking any plumbing store should have one. just be carefull not to bust the trap.
