OK, First let us check the compressor to see if running or trying to start. Pull away from wall and unplug from wall. Remove lower cover and feel the compressor top of the to see if too hot to hold hand there, cool or warm. look inside freezer and tell me if ice is building on rear wall. Answer that and I will be able to tell you what we need to do, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Thanks for the Rate! I normally do not hear from people unless they write me or someone other than myself writes something that responds to your question. I think from here I will post a chain of events addition to an existing web page that will give you and others a check list to go through for Profiles and Articas. These refrigerators are not as much complex in design but sensitive to simple minute conditions like for example leaving the freezer door ajar for a few hours will set it off like your symptons and disconnecting power will reset that problem. Or blocking a themistor with a product stored near the thermistor. There is a Service Manual for your model and even if it dose not look the same most GE Profile PSW26P or almost all have and fall under the same wiring and chain of events. Click on the wiring diagram on this page=> GE ARTICA PROFILE TECHNICAL INFORMATION

it will be the second largest photo a layout of your wiring. When you click on that it should open in a new tab. Save to your computer and study that manual. Feel free to contact me at any time through my website. I am not just refrigerators, Again Thanks, Sea Breeze

Sadly i would say the board is malfunctioning and needs replacement. There is nothing in the fridge/ freezer that if malfunctions can cause that.

unfortunately these systems are very expensive to repair and most shops will not service them if repairs cost more than a new unit. However you could make sure to keep the coils clean and adjust the thermostat to its coldest setting to get as much life from this one before buying another one. hope this helps and good luck.

Help! My GE Profile Arctica runs 24 hours a day...sounds like a fan. It stops when either door is opened, then starts as soon as the door closes. The temps on either side are higher than what they are set...

It is normal operation for ARTICA fans to run continuosly except when the door is open. If the door remains open for 3 minutes the fans will run anyway.
The temperature will vary about 6 -8 degrees from the selected temperature. The temperature will increase during a defrost cycle.
I do not believe you have a problem.

Door edges being warm is caused by what is called mullion heaters that operate to prevent humidity from condensing at these points.
Some refrigerators have an energy saver switch. Turn this switch if you have one to the energy saving position when the humidity is low. Is anything freezing in the refrigerator? If so setting the controls to a little higher setting may solve your problem.
