Question about Dell Inspiron 1501 Notebook

1 Answer

After defragmenting, the screen resolution on my Dell laptop went to 600 x 800. If I try to change it back to what it was, it says I do not have administrative privileges. I am the administrator and logged in as such. Any ideas?

Troubleshoot dell e5500

Depending upon your operating system, try reducing your resolution to something lower. If your resolution is currently at 1920 x 1600, reduce it down to 1280 x 1024. This should allow you back up & regroup.

On a blank portion of your screen, <Right Click> your mouse, choose "Properties" for Windows XP or "Screen Resolution" for Windows 7, for Windows XP go to the last tab, Find the Resolution slider or drop down menu and choose a lower resolution than the one you are currently using.

If your laptop is connected to an external monitor, use the monitor menu buttons to recenter and shrink the image back to factory settings.

Have bought Dell Inspiron 15 R N 5010. But the picture quality is really poor even after 512 mb graphic card. What to do.

Try increasing the screen resolution to maximum and colour quality to higher available. See whether proper driver has been loaded. If yes try reloading it and restart and check it

I use dell 1458!!with 512 mb graphic card!! whenever i start any 3d game,,then my screen becomes 3/4th and looses the widescreen gaming experience!! how shud i fix this!!

change the resolution in the game options...if the game it has no option for resolution ..than you can not do anything ...cause it will change the resolution on itself ..and it will get back when you close it ..this is not depending on the videocard settings..

Inspiron 1300 screen border 1 inch

Have you tried adjusting the screen resolution? If you are running windows, try right-clicking on the desktop, then going to properties>settings>screen resolution. Set it to maximum available (I think it's 1024x768 on your inspiron). This should sort it out.

Good luck,
Raf

Hook up laptop to computer

Your computer may be running at a higher resolution than is supported by your TV. Lower your laptop's resolution to 800x600 and try again. If it works, you may be able to raise the resolution higher, perhaps 1024x768.

To change the laptop's resolution, go to the desktop and right click and select "Properties". Select the "settings" tab. You will see a box labeled "Screen Resolution", slide the slider to the left as far as possible. Then, plug in the laptop to the TV and select the appropriate input from the TV.

Hope this helps.

Dell Inspiron 600M laptop screen issue

The system may not be able to refresh after the defrag. Press ctrl-alt-del and try to turn the computer off from the task manager. If task manager wont popup. You can turn the computer off by holding the power button for 10 seconds or until it turns off.
To prevent file corruption which could be caused by the improper shutdown which you will have to do. Don't forget to tap F8 repeatedly when you restart the computer. Start tapping after you push the power button to turn it on. Choose 'last known good configuration' using the arrow keys on the keyboard. Press enter. And wait until the computer reboots. It should come back to normal.

If it still locks up. Run diagnostics and check if your hard drive is still ok. Turn the computer off. Tap F12 when you turn it back on. Choose diagnostics. If you get an error for 'DSt short test' call dell, so they can give you options for replacement. If all the tests passed, your software is corrupted. Post back what happens.
