Webcam problem

Acer drivers.

I found this driver: Acer Extensa 5210 Chicony Webcam Driver 5.7

(I have also mirrored the file here.)

Here are the exact steps I took.

1. Downloaded the file.
2. Unzipped it to a folder on my desktop.
3. Ran the "Setup.exe" file in the folder that got unzipped.
4. Went through the installer until it got to the end and then let it restart my computer.
5. Waited for my computer to restart.
6. It popped up something saying it was installing the drivers for my webcam. Waited until it was done.
7. Opened the Control Panel.
8. Opened the Device Manager.
9. Find my webcam under "Imaging Devices". I noticed it was listed as "HP Pavilion Webcam"despite having just installed the Acer drivers.
10. Right-clicked on my webcam and chose "Update Driver Software..."
11. Chose "Browse my computer for driver software"
12. Chose "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
13. Unchecked the "Show compatible hardware" checkbox.
14. Scrolled down to the Chicony manufacturer.
15. Chose the "Acer Crystal Eye webcam.
16. Told it to install anyway when it asked me a question about installing that driver.
17. Waited for the driver to be installed.
18. Noted that my webcam was now listed as an Acer Crystal Eye webcam in Device Manager.

And that was it. It appears to work totally fine now

Cant open creative web camera - lost installation Cd

Plug your webcam in and visit this site
http://www.testmycam.com/Hit "Allow" in the top window and see if your webcam works in the left panel

If it does not work here, you know you have a hardware problem ( webcam, lead, USB connection etc) .
Troubleshoot by using something else in the USB port, like a printer.
Try hooking your cam up on a friends computer.

If it does work here - you have a software problem
Download this webcam diagnostic tool and run it.
http://www.download32.com/webcam-diagnostics-d35065.htmlRun through the tests using "next" to move through the pages
It always asks me to Re-boot on the first check.
Act on any information highlighted especially if software like Directx requires updating

If no problems are indicated or have been addressed, try interrogating the information in Device Manager
Expand the 'Imaging' folder in device manager, right click on the text of your webcam. Select 'Properties' and check all the information in each of the tabs.
Update your driver by right clicking the webcam text and select 'Update driver software' Use the internet when prompted

If you are still having problems - uninstall the webcam software - unplug the webcam - restart the computer and download new software from here

Webcam comes up and asks for a password that i never put on it. Because i don't know the password, my webcam won't work.

unplugg the webcam from pc ......un-install the driver from add remove programs and restart computer,,,, then install the driver again then attach the webcam to pc.... if you don't have the cd that came with the webcam (for the driver) just go to the webcam manufatures website and click on dowloads or drivers then search for your specific model number and download the driver,,,,,, always download the driver before attaching a device to your computer unless it is plug and play compatible....

Webcam not found

I have found that if the webcam software has a program that automatically starts its own OEM program then you have to open that program and find the settings for turning it off or on. Two programs will not want to share a webcam.
