There are many ways to scan .. using different software.
Since you have'nt mentioned the kind of pc u have and the operating system.
Try this...
Click the Start button , click All Programs , click Accessories , and then click Paint .
In Paint Click File , and then click Import From Camera or Scanner .
Make any desired setting changes, and then click Scan .
But if you want to use solution center.
remove the driver and all the software for the printer and then download the Full Feature Software and Drivers form hp.com
Hope it works
All the best !!!

sorry the above posted solution was for a different issue !!!

Disconnect the printer from its electric supply and the pc
Press and hold the power button for about a minute
Now connect only the power supply and try to turn on the printer
If no lights appear in the printer its a harware issue and you need to take it to a hardware repair center or call up the manufacturer

Nothing happens when push start button. power cord etc good ??? is this a power unit failure?

make sure the outlet is recieving power

unplug the tower from the outlet & then replug it in & see what happens

make sure all cords are plugged in correctly in the back of the tower

then if nothing happens after you push the start button, power supply & cord could be bad

the same thing happened to my daughter's pc & had to replace power supply & shorted out the motherboard
