Solution
Follow the steps below:

Click Start
, then Printers and Faxes
.

Right-click the system default printer and click Properties
.

On the General
tab, right-click the default printer and click Copy
.

Click Cancel
to exit.

Click Start
and then click Run
.

In the Run
dialog box, type regedit
and click OK
.
WARNING:
Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious
problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system.
Hewlett-Packard cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the
incorrect use of the Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor
at your own risk. It is strongly recommended that you make a backup
copy of the Registry before you edit it. For information about how to
edit the Registry, view the "Changing Keys And Values" help topic in
Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete Information in the
Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" help topics in Regedit32.exe.

In the Registry Editor window, click Edit
, then click Find...
, and search for the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Hewlett-Packard\DigitalImaging\hpfccopy
.

Double-click Printer
in the right pane.

In the Edit String window, paste the printer name as it appears in the Registry under Value data
(for example, hp photosmart 8400 series) .

Click OK
and close the Registry Editor.

Press Copy
on the scanner. The default printer connected to the system should normally print the scanned document.
Cause
This issue occurs when the default printer or the list of printers is not recognized on the hpfccopy
function in the Current User section of the Registry.
When I push the "Print" button I am told to go to control panel and set up a printer. I have an HP printer set up. What's up?
