Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
As mentioned by "WonkoTheSane", the PS3 error 80710723 is caused by network connection problems. Your first step should simply be to turn both your PS3, and your wireless router off, then restart both. Sometimes a simple reboot is all it takes to fix the problem.
You should also try disabling the "Media Server Network" under your PS3's system preferences/options. I would highly recommend that you try using a wired connection for your PS3 if possible. Also, you can download updates manually to your PS3 console from your computer, thus circumventing the 80710723 error. At the following link you will find an in-depth guide for fixing the PS3 error 80710723 and manually updating your PS3 console.

You have a network/router error. First go to settings, then Network settings, then internet connection settings.
If you have a wired connection connection 1 - Custom, then manual settings, then auto detect, then automatic, then Do not set, then manual, DNS1 : 126.96.36.199 , DNS2 : 188.8.131.52, then auto, then do not use, then enable.
If you are using a wireless connection 2 - WIRELESS > ENTER MANUALLY > ( ENTER SSID OR CONTINUE ) > ( CHOOSE SECURITY OR CONTINUE ) > CUSTOM > AUTO > DO NOT SET > MANUAL ( DNS1 : 184.108.40.206 , DNS2 : 220.127.116.11 ) > AUTO > DO NOT USE > ENABLE > X > X
and if neither of these works then try turning off your modem for a few minutes and restarting your ps3 =)

My 80gb ps3 did the same exact thing. I kept trying to get to install, but it just would not. called SCEA and they told me i'd have to send it in and pay about $200.00 for a refurb. So, i completly took it apart. Cleaned every thing, put new thermal compound on it. AND, presto install completed now i can use my ps3. Did not reflow just cleaned and new compund. And learned I should just update using USB flash drive. Works like a charm. Good luck. Hope this helps.
