There seems to be continuity between fuses. Checked both fuses.

    What are my next steps.

Did you just finish a big load?
There are some fuses on the dryer itself.
Are you handy with a multimeter?
What is the make/model # of the unit please?

One (thermal fuse) is located on the blower housing cover

    #7 in THIS DIAGRAM

and one (high limit cutoff) is located at #9 in the same diagram. better seen HERE

    Check for continuity on both.

Access should be from a removeable panel on the rear of the unit.

The F40 error code indicates a communication failure between the main machine control board and the motor control board for the blower motor on the dryer.

I dried 2 loads of laundry this morning and when I went to dry the 3rd it just wouldnt start. Its 2 yrs old. Everything is plugged in and I have checked the fuse box. What else could it be?

Hello there:
If You have inspected the dryer and cleaned out the lint Screan and all other areas you can unplugit for 30 min and then plug it back in but if this does not help please go thru this troubleshooting list that i have made up for you
If your dryer doesn't work at all, it could be because of problems with: Power from the house Door switch Thermal fuse Wiring Power from the house Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? If you plug something else into the outlet, does it work? If not, check for a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker. Door switch If the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch. Thermal fuse On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse (a heat-sensitive fuse that blows if the dryer overheats) mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse is about an inch long. It's usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing.

If the fuse has blown, it has no continuity. When this happens, your dryer either just stops heating, or it doesn't work at all. Be sure to inspect the venting/heating system before replacing the fuse to put the dryer back into operation. (You can't re-set this type of fuse.)
Wiring Often the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, burns and the connection breaks. In this has happened to your dryer, you need to replace the power cord and the terminal block inside the dryer to which the wire is attached.

Dryer will not turn on. Checked outlet with

unplug dryer and take back panel off. plug back in. use caution your working with 220v. get a reading on power cord where it connects to dryer. if your good there look for a micro fuse, two small wires connected to it very small component. sounds like you have a bad power cord or power surge popped micro fuse. good luck and be safe!!

I have a DV306LEW/XAA dryer that is about 4 years old. It now has no heat. It is tumbling ok and the blower is working fine, it just blows cold air. I opened the small lint hose cover a vacuumed everything...

There is a thermal shutoff on the heating assemly that will turn off the dryer heat. Also, we just experienced a fire in ours due to lint build up in the body of the dryer even though we vacuumed out the lint trap on a regular basis. To look in this area, you have to take the top off the dryer and then the front. You can look by pulling out the dryer outlet connection and a flashlight. Make sure to put it back in correctly though to avoid a fire.

Check the fuse on the blower housing.
To get to the heating element on most of these dryers you remove the back dust cover: whirlpool%20dryer.jpg 1. Hi Limit (small limit upper right hand side of this pic) the most frequent problem if dryer RUNS but no heat. 2. Heater assembly. 7. Control thermostat(s). 5. Dryer won't turn on for 2nd load

A couple of things is to make sure you have 110v at the recepticle, if you do then it's with in the dryer. It could be the door switch wont close, thermal over load won't reset in your motor(if it got hot enough to open, you said it had been in use) , broken belt switch if your dryer has one, or even the thermal fuse (in series with L-1) opened up. Ohm out the door switch in the closed position, it should read 0 ohms, Same with the thermal fuse, should read 0 ohms, not an open read.Good Luck..MJE

Gas dryer won't run when pushing start. Motor not comming on.

There is a small resetable fuse athe back under the top cover being held by a plate that has a screw holding it in place. To test just connect the wires together. I see this all the time on those modeles.

Dryer will not start

Your dryer may not be receiving adequate voltage to start. Make sure your dryer is plugged in. Also, check the circuit breaker panel to make sure all the circuit breakers are in the correct positions. Or check to make sure no fuses in the fuse panel are blown. Try plugging something else into the same outlet. If it won't work either, then there is likely something wrong with the power outlet. Any of these could be the reason power is not getting to your dryer. Also, refrain from using an extension cord to plug your dryer in.
