The HDD must be installed with the OS it does not come preinstalled.

Your new HDD is blank.

Cf-29 does not work anymore with my linksys. Ipad works with the linksys though.

On ALL older Panasonic Toughbooks the original
WIFI drivers were the original drivers which shipped
with the operating system.

These drivers usually have a date of 2003 or 2004.

There are NEWER WIFI drivers that work with the
latest routers (G or N). The new drivers have dates
of 2006 or 2007 for Windows XP and 2008 or 2009
or even later for Windows 7.

The CF29 MK1 used a WIFI "B" Adapter which is limited.
The MK2 used a WIFI "G" Adapter which will be easier
to update.

Panasonic CF29 usually used Intel Brand WIFI adapters
so drivers could usually be found at the link:

External display video monitor

On Page 10 of the Operating Instruction Manual
for the Panasonic Toughbook CF29, it shows
the "External Display Port" or VGA Connector
located on the back side with the cover closed.

This port is located approximately in the center
of the back side, just to the right of the
port replicator port and may be colored "BLUE".

The manual can be found here:

Cf-29 no operating system

You will require the internal Panasonic Toughbook CF29 optical drive (DVD). The cost of such a drive (used) in should be $50 or less.

You will also require a Windows 7 DVD.

You may be able to download an ISO file and burn your own.

Try this Microsoft Website:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows7

You must use the 32-bit version, NOT the 64-bit version.

Please remember to set the DVD as the first boot device in the BIOS of the CF29.

That is it. Good Luck and Best Regards from:

My cf29 Panasonic toughbook have no boot file name/ pxe-e53

This error is a network boot error.
The error message indicates that the client received at least one valid DHCP/BOOTP offer, but does not have a boot filename to download.
A fix to this problem is found on this WEB site.

Aquire disk imaging program such as norton ghost. Install 2nd, larger HDD into existing computer. Boot computer using ghost boot disk. "Image" existing HDD to newer, larger HDD.

Remove existing HDD. Set 'new' HDD to proper position (Master, etc).

Boot computer.

Disk boot failure

Hi,

Technically you can copy all the data from one to another hdd but not the operating system

You have to install your operating system (windows, linux or MAC) on your new 500gig hdd and then copy your data from 60gig hdd.

Samsung 200gb hdd

When u bought a new hdd, it shud not have any partition on it. but in ur case, I assume u have formatted it to ntfs but no operating system is installed in it.

If u want to make the new hdd as slave and have another old hdd as primary, that have already an operating system installed in it, then the problem shud be hdd boot priority in bios. Enter ur bios and check for hdd boot priority and put the old hdd to the top most order, then restart. this shud fix the problem.

If u installed OS in ur new hdd (win xp),
1) ntldr or ntdetect.com is missing on root dir. (c:\). If u have another computer that works and have xp installed, just put this new hdd along with the current hdd and boot to windows. Copy ntldr and ntdetect.com to your new hdd. Or another way is just repair using windows xp boot cd.
2)the windows partition is not set 'active'. to set active, boot into winxp setup and press 'r'. this will lead to recovery console. type ur passwrod for admin (def=none). use diskpart command to set active. for easy way, put the new hdd to another computer. boot to windows. rightclick my computer, choose manage. on left pane select disk manager. rightclick on ur partition, then set active.

Hope this help

One possible solution would be to obtain a windows installation disk for the operating system you're using...which will allow you to format the hard drive and do a new windows installation.
