Just stripped VAX rapid carpet cleaner model v-025 down found out the internal plastic water valve keeps sticking in open position causing the water to free flow on the carpet when it should be closed pop the water flow regulator part out of housing and spray wd40 on the plunger side and pump with finger( repeat till it does not stick ) you can do a water test by putting some water in the bottle housing cap on the body of the machine then press the plunger on the regulator the water will flow through the pipe then it will shut off when released, top the housing cap back up with water the regulator should now be in the closed position and holding the water until plunger is pressed back in a gain for the water to flow down the pipe again if this is the case rebuild the machine mine now works perfect.hope this sorts your problem out

This is a common problem known by repairers. What happens is residue gets stuck in the seals. The next time you use the machine and press the trigger the seals stay open and water leaks continually. It was suggested that maybe after you finish using the machine you do a whole tank of plain water to rinse it out but I haven't had any luck with that. I am stuck with a machine that doesn't work.

I have the same problem, I used the machine it was fine, then I refilled the water tank , it leaked on the rug I was cleaning and now I have horrid stains on the back of the rug. I tried running clean water through the machine but as soon as I attached the tank the water just poured out of it , as with the other person, I am stuck with a machine I cannot use anymore.

Yes same thing has happened to mine. It still goes fine if I just use the upholstery tool though.

Vax carpet shampooer water tank leeking

If tank itself is leaking nothing you can do but replace it. Check it for cracks or leaks at sink. Make sure the round rubber seal it sets on is ok an not bent over or broken, also check the leaver to make sure it is not hing up an is working properly.

My hoover max extract dual v stopped sucking up the water on just its second use. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

The most likely problem is there is a restriction somewhere or a suction leak. Check to make sure you have good suction where the waste water tank fits down onto the machine. Make sure the lid is on the waste water tank and follow the flow of suction from the machine through the waste tank down to the floor and look for debris clogs or any area where there may be a suction leak. If you have good suction coming from the machine the problem has to be somewhere between there and where the water is being sucked off of the floor.

Cant squirt water, nothing is coming up from the carpet

Try filling soap solution tank with hot water and make sure that the red filter in the pickup tank is not clogged, and always run hot water in solution tank after cleaning carpet. steve

How do you use vax 2000 to shampoo carpets. do not have a manual

Set up is complicated unless you are patient.
Remove the paper dust bag from the bottom of the canister and then filter ring. Then put in the recovery bucket of which 4 litres of warm water should be added and a capful of floor cleaning solution.
Then remove the pump wire on top of the Vax motor where the blue filter circle is (keep the filter in, do not remove it!).
If the 2000 has a separate pump notch on the rim of the Vax motor head on the outside then you should plug the black cord in that has a washer screw type metal connector. Push, twist and lock in. Then the black cord which eventually leads to a clear pipe with the older clip on wash handle that has to be clipped to the main hose handle has to have the black and see through cord clipped to the main hose and eventually down the extension pipes until you get to the floor head. If you have the older style T shaped floor head the cord should slip into the floor head easily. Then either squeezing the trigger to release the cleaning solution in, switch the Vax on and hit the secondary pump button. This will pump the cleaning solution and water into the carpet. To stop the pump you can either lock the wash trigger to stop the liquid or squeeze the trigger to make sure no other liquid comes out. Generally you can see the foamy carpet solution flowing through the see through rubber hose and eventuallly through the floor head.
To **** up the rest of the carpet solution, stop the pump button and the Vax can be used to **** out all the dirty solution/water in the carpet. Its a big and tedious task generally!
See an alternative manual for the Vax 1000 which is an older model but similar to the 2000. It is free and in pdf downloadable form:

I have a bissel powersteamer and it quit spraying the solution on to the carpet... the jets are not blocked....how can i get it working again?

Does water squirt out of the hose nozzle, if it does, then check the heater inside the handle asm. Make sure that where the tubes hook up to it are not clogged. If water doesn't squirt, check for the seal at the bottom of the tank, it needs to be on the tank, not in the hole. The flow indictor cap is leaking air or maybe is too tight. If you had the top cover off, make sure that the tubes are routed right so as not to get pinched when the cover is put back on, the smart mix knob should be in the water setting and that the piston is on the bottom of the smart mix knob. Pump is bad. You can try putting a solution of vinegar and water, running that may clean out blockages.

Check the belts first, if ok, does water squirt out of the hose nozzzle, if it does then the heate in the handle asm. is clogged where the tubes hook up to it. If no water squirts out, the the pump isn't working. Pull the top cover off, check all tubes to make sure there is no clog. Make sure the tubes are routed right so as not pinch one, also make sure the piston is mounted on the smart mix knob. and the knob is in the water setting before putting the cover back on. The cap for the flow indictor is leaking are or screwed on too tight. The seal at the bottom of the tank is not on the tank and is missing or sitting in the hole where the water goes.
