Question about Vizio GV42L 42 in. LCD Television
According to my wife, tv "popped and went dead." I reset power strip and may or may not have turned it on but only front panel indicator lights have come on: no picture or sound or other indications, won't shut off with remote.
Probably as stated before me the power supply is bad.Look at the power supply to see if any caps are bulging or worse yet exploded especially under the silver cage on the right side . Capacitors can be changed out of your handy with a soldering iron. If not,you can purchase this power supply and install it to see if that solves your problem : http://www.shopjimmy.com/vizio-0500-0507-0331-power-supply.htm

Sounds like the power supply failed. If out of warranty and you want to open it up, look for damaged parts on the power supply board. Unplug the set. Use your nose to sniff out the burnt parts.
