Does it ask for the password when you first turn the computer on? Or does it run through a few boot up screens and then ask for a password?

Is this the BIOS password or the operating system password?

If asking for a BIOS password that can be disabled/cleared with a jumper on the motherboard.

Is it asking for the BIOS password or Windows password?
If it's the Windows password, then resetting the CMOS won't do anything.
If it's the windows password, you'll have to find a program that will reset or read the passwords. It's usually less effort than reinstalling windows.

How can I activite syncing if I don't know or don't have a Windows password?

Your Windows password is the the security password you use to access the system after you start your computer and Windows loads. Why they would ask for that I don't know. I think they might be referring to some other Windows password because I cannot see that your computer's security password for windows access on your machine would be relevant.

Ubuntu adm password reset

Click "Applications" and then click "Accessories" on the top taskbar in the Ubuntu desktop.

Click "Terminal" to open a terminal window.

Type the following command at the Linux prompt and press the "Enter" key:

sudo passwd

To change the Administrator account password, the password of "root" is changed.

The "sudo" command gives the current user temporary Administrator access, in this instance, to change the password of "root."

First, the user will see a Unix prompt asking for the current user's password.

Type the user password for the current user account. Press the "Enter" key. Next, Unix will prompt the user for the new password for "root."

Type the new password for "root." Press "Enter." Finally, a Unix prompt will require a confirmation of the password.

Retype the new password for root, and press "Enter." The Administrator (root) account password for Ubuntu is now reset

or

Boot computer into recovery mode. Reset your computer and as it is booting, hold down the "Shift" key on your keyboard.

You will be presented with the boot menu.

Select "Recovery Mode" from the boot menu.

It is usually the the second boot option.

Wait for computer to boot up.

You will be presented with the Recovery Menu. Select "Drop to Root Shell Prompt."

Type "ls /home" and press "Enter." Note:

The command starts with a lower case L, not a capital i.

You will be presented with a list of usernames of accounts installed on the computer.

Type "passwd username" where username is replaced by the name of the account you want to reset. For example, if the username of your account was "jeff" you would type "passwd jeff" and press "Enter." You will be prompted to create a new password.

Enter a new password of your choosing.

Note: You will see no visual response when you type in your newly selected password; however, the computer still will register the input. Press "Enter."

You will be asked to retype your password.

Re-enter the same password and press "Enter."

Your password is now reset.

Type "Exit" to return to the boot menu and select "Resume Normal Boot" to restart Ubuntu.

hope this helps

Boot up or restart your Toshiba laptop.

Immediately and repeatedly tap the F2 key on your keyboard until the start screen appears to change your BIOS (user) and supervisor

(HDD user) passwords.

Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to highlight "Set User Password" or "Set HDD User Password" and press "Enter" on your keyboard.

Type the current password in the box that appears.

Type your new password ox.

You will be asked to enter your new password a second time to confirm it.

How to unlock my computerfree

Click on Start, then Control Panel, and then on User Accounts.

Click on your name. The screen appears where you can make changes to your password - even delete it.

If you delete the password there, then next time you reboot your computer, you should not need to enter a password.

Black enter password screen, but no password

I'm not sure if this will work but it may be that your system bios is asking for a password. If so, as you reboot the system, press F8 down until the system bios screen appears. Then page thru to see if the bios is asking for a system password. If so, you should be able to deactivate it thru the bios.

Hope this works.

My computer asks for a password, says the puta is locked, yet when I put the puta to sleep we go through the same rigmarole asking for my password, this did not happen before my puta was put in for a...

If you are using Vista, go to Start -> Control Panel -> Power Options. Click on 'Require a password on wakeup' (top left). The bottom section of the next screen has the options for the password requirement. If the option is grayed out, click on the blue text 'Change settings that are currently unavailable' near the top of the window, andswer the UAC prompt, and it will let you chonge those settings.

If you are using XP, you still need to go to STart -> Control Panel -> Power Options. The only access I currently have to XP is through a virtual machine which does not have sleep and hibernation options, so I can't direct you further on that, but the required options should be located on those tabs.
