My brand new Samsung LN32B530 lcd 32'' crashed during a software update (from "2004" to "2006", no idea what that means). The TV looks dead, the only thing it does is flashes the red led (bottom right). please help!

This usually indicates that the main board is dead. A bad or incomplete download usually takes out the main board. You can call 1-800-samsung and see if they will warranty the main board and labor.

Have you tried lifting the display off of the stand with all of the screws loosened? Even though they do not come out you should be able to remove the base stand once loose.
From what the instructions say, there are 4 screws on the back of the tv, at the bottom.. These go through the tv and into the base. Remove them and it should come off.
its pretty clear that there is no problem with the remote you have as both the options are not working in your case.. so why not see a expert in the locality.. its a small problem related to the connection on it. but dont do it your self.. as its a good TV .. take help from experts frens if u have 1.. also it won't cost u much if you call a mechanic.. hv nice time.. rate me!!
it looks like a faulty mains board. you need to upgrade the tv software with the latest update. if the tv is not accepting the upgrade then it can be a crook mains board. hope it helps! please rate my comments :D
