Thank you for the response, however the monitor continues to blink even when after the system has come online. Sometimes it will eventually stop and other times it can blink for 30 minutes+

Elliotfleder, If monitor was working fine, and not blinking like this for years, then monitor could haave other issues. If unit acts same way when connected to different pc, then it may need to go to repair shop and have the SMPS / inverter board(s) worked on.
Read through my fixya profile and learn how to do the FLASHLIGHT test and what it can tell you about your possible "black" or "blank n black" intermittant screen problem. Yes, you could have a backlighting problem with unit. 12fixlouie

It's normal behaviour - it blinks because during boot the pc starts with the default VGA driver, then unloads it (the monitor shuts down as the video card is disabled) then load the appropriate video driver (the monitor starts up again as the video card is activated properly).

In that case the problem is with the monitor itself - something is faulty inside it : probably the power source or a wire connection. Without actually opening the monitor and testing the components i can't be more precise.

Why black screen , blinking white dash. What is that?

This likely means your PC is not starting up correctly... find another monitor and try booting PC again.. if everything views ol, then your monitor is bad. Otherwise your PC has a startup issue (bad drivers, recently added software causing issues, etc.)

When I switch on my pc the monitor and the CPU start blinking but take a long time to boot. When cchecked on FixYa I found only questions and no answers. Where and when do I get the answers? Got it?

Please, describe the problem with more details. What part ot the PC and what part of the monitor blinks and how long does it takes to boot? Do you see somethnig on the monitor before booting completes? Slow boot and blinkig are very common problems, related both hardware and software. Inspect the motherboard for inflated capacitors. Replace capacistors or the motherboard if unable to complete sucessfully capacitor replasement. Inspect and replace capacitors on monitors' power supply.Check the same in PCs' power supply. Check the harddrive for bad sectors using Hiren Boot CD and the tool called "MHDD" in it's DOS menu. Transfer the information to a new harddrive and replace it with the new one.Check for viruses and unwanted software. Check for installed 'Microsoft Office File Validation Add-On" and remove it. Check if there are more than one antivirus program. Leave only one and remove the rest.

Hi there,

Yes i do agree with you there is no problem with a graphic card, and i suspected it to be a problem with the cable which is used for connecting but it was fine when you swapped the monitors however i would still suspect on the slot where the cable is connected, may be you should try samsung service center before you decide.

Post back for more solutions we will be happy to help you.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!!!!

Monitor blinks on and off.

Try this, open your computer case and look at the monitor connector thing. Is it plugged in correctly? If not, plug it in. If it is, buy a new monitor connector, they are somewhat cheap. You can install it by yourself, all you need is a screwdriver.

LCD Monitor - green power light blinking - nothing on monitor

Carol,
It sounds like your computer is putting the monitor in power save or sleep mode, and the monitor doesn't respond appropriately. The monitor might be faulty, or overheating. Make sure there is adequate ventilation around the monitor, and that it is clean and free from dust around the vents on the case.

Another thing to try is to check your computer's screen saver and power saving settings. Try turning off the "turn off monitor after [interval]" setting and see if the monitor still shuts off after several hours.

Good luck, hope this helps.
