I own a Mac laptop model#AppleM6497.My cable company TimeWarner has just set me up with RoadRunner and D-Link Rangebooster G Router.I would like to buy a D-Link USB Adapter Range Booster. My local OfficeMax store called your company and was told I needed WUA #1340 or#1440 .They did not have one, neither did my local Circuit City or Best Buy.Could you tell me please where I can obtain one? or send for one? I live in Winston Salem North Carolina

Press the reset button of the d-link router for 30 seconds, unplug and plug the power cord.

MAC cloning is used for Cable ISP configuration but that should not affect the router's functionality (odd router behavior) ;-)

1.check your wireless setup and see if the wireless is on.
2. Do ipconfig / all at the DOS prompt on the laptop
3. Test the router by setting up the laptop by MAC address.
4. Go into security settings ( router) an create key( WEP/WPA )etc. Don't do this step until it all work properly.

Are you trying to set up router ?
You can set up your router manually, without the
CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online
directly through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the
modem
Then you need to connect the computer to the
router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the
settings of the router according to the ISP.

Do you have a wireless telephone, operating on the same frequency and same channel as your wireless router? If so, then the telephone and the router will interfere with each other. Change the router to use a different channel.

reboot your modem(power it off for about 10-15 secs), reset your router. make sure your laptop is disconnected from the modem when doing this. Modem needs to catch router's ip address. Start your laptop and search wireless networks. look for your d-link router and connect. Now this is assuming you didn't firewall your router, which in tun you will need to enter your key to connect.

I will be more than glad to assist u in this concern..That is right! if u bypass the router it will work, the reason why the modem wont talk to the router bcoz the router is not properly setup.. if you are using a cable modem from ur cable company provider- u need to do a mac clone on the router ,u have to clone the mac address of ur dell desktop computer which works with the local cable company... normaly the mac of ur computer is the one register to your cable company and on the setup page of the router just select on the internet setup, dhcp after clonning the mac address of your computer. u need to connect ur computer directly to the router and then after doing the process connect the router to the modem.

Roadrunner is broadband, so you have a cable modem, and personally, I have NEVER seen one with wireless capability. You need to go get a wireless router and connect it between the modem, and your computer... follow the set up protocols for the router, and enable WEP encryption. After you have the router up and running, configure your PS3 to the router using its setup proceedures.

After you get the router and PS3 configured, go back into the router configuration, and set your router up to ONLY accept connections from the mac address of the PS3 (find the mac address by going into "network settings" and then "settings and connection status list") and turn off the SSID broadcast, you don't need it running once the PS3 knows the router is their, and by taking these two steps, you significantly increase the security of your network.
