Question about Samsung HCM4215W 42" Rear Projection Television
I have a HCM4216W rear projection tv. It was purchased in 2003. Last night hte picture became distorted and was rolling quite a bit and then it appeared as if all 3 lamps went out of sync and I have 3 images (red, green and blue) rolling around the screen. It eventually went to a green screen that was skewed and did not fill up the entire display area.
Now it turns on to the green scree for a second and then shuts off. The red light flashes for a while and then stops. Any ideas
The convergence IC have gone bad, bad solder connections to IC or probably both. The board as a whole can be purchased as complete (look to the web to find where to get) and is fairly easy to replace. Unless you have extensive experience with component level repair I would suggest you take the board to a TV shop to repair. This option maybe slightly less then replacing board. Check with your local TV repair shop to see which option is the best in your area.
