The fan may have been knocked or damaged when you replaced the lamp,the only thing I could suggest is to try and go to the menu very fast and try and enable the fans,you could try and get a dealer to do this for you if they will.

3. Error Code Operational Check

Note: The TV must be in "Shut Down" and not have been switched Off, to perform the Error Code Operational

Check. When the TV is switched Off, the code automatically resets to "12" No Error.

Pressing the front panel "DEVICE" and "MENU" buttons at the same time, and holding for 5 seconds,

activates the Error Code Mode. The LED flashes denoting a two digit Error Code, or indicating no problem

has occured since the last Initalization.

Note: The front panel buttons must be used, NOT those on the Remote Control.

• The number of flashes indicates the value of the MSD (tens digit) of the Error Code.

• The flashing then pauses for approximately 1/2 second.

• The LED then flashes indicating the value of the LSD (ones digit) of the Error Code.

• The Error Code is repeated a total of 5 times.

My pt-ae900u wont turn on. the lamp light is flashing red..and the motor or fan is making a soft scratching noise. I never got any warning on the screen saying the bulb was in need of replacing..but its...

Hi,
First of all check the remove the lamp and check the same. if it found burned you have to replace it. Remember one thing you have to reset the lamp hour After replacing the lamp. You can see the option in the menu.
resetting procedure.
1. inset the new lamp.
2. power on the projector.
3. Press menu and select OPTION.
4. Press enter button and the select LAMP RUN TIME.
5. Press and hold MENU button for 3 seconds.
6. Lamp reset , power off message will display.
7. power off the projector. this will reset the lamp hour.

Also Check the lamp cooling fan of your projector. may be its has some problem. its not running at the correct RPM. Do one thing, Remove the fan from the projector. In the fan there will be a specification sticker. Remove the sicker. now u can see a hole in the center. its the bearing part of the fan. put one drop of oil in it. u can use any type of lubricating oil. rotate the fan leafs with finger for some time. after that re-stick the spec sticker. insert the fan in the projector. power ON the projector and watch.
ok

Tv says airflow restriction tv will turn off. there is no airlfow restriction

I did not find a reference to airflow restriction in the service manual.
I don't know if this will help, but here are the error codes:

The TV must be in “Shut Down” and not manually switched Off, to perform the Error Code Operational
Check. When the TV is switched Off, the code automatically resets to “12” No Error.
Press the front panel “DEVICE” and “MENU” buttons at the same time, and hold for 5 seconds to
activate the Error Code Operational Check. The LED will then flash denoting a two digit Code.
Example: If the Error Code is “32”, the LED will flash three times, pause, and then flash two times.
• The Error Code is repeated a total of 5 times.
4. Error Codes

Error Code Probable Cause

22 Recovery from momentary Reset
32 Lamp Cover open

37 Engine (DMD or Lamp) Fan failure

there isn't one. you need to see the menu. but what color is the led and is it blinking?
green- all is well
red blinking:
1 time- lamp not striking after 5x.
2 times- lamp has more than 3000 hrs. replace lamp.
3 times- lamp failure. replace lamp.
4 times- fan failure. shuts down.
5 times- undiagnosed error. possibly ballast or colorwheel.

if the colorwheel won't spin, the lamp won't light. when you turn on the projector, do you hear a high-pitched whir? if not, the colorwheel needs replacing.

Bad Bulb?

the pins that protrude into the lamp compartment have a tendency to get out of alignment where the lamp will only make partial contact. It sounds like what youre describing.

Tv cuts off reset it will come back on fan makes noise then ramps up and shuts tv off

Here's something that might also be useful. After you turn on the set, and get the regular red blinky lights, hold down the Device and Menu buttons together for about 5 seconds.
The Power light will start to flash in a two digit sequence.

For example, 3 flashes, then 7 flashes = 37.

Here are the error codes, and the corresponding problem:

12 = No error detected, check power supply.
32 = Lamp Cover is open.
33 = Air filter cover is open.
34 = Lamp abnormality
36 = Light Engine (DMD or Lamp Fan stopped)
37 = Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped
38 = Lamp Temperature High
39 = DMD Temperature High
41 = Short is detected
44 = DVI cable between FMT and Engine disconnected
