Check if there is a cooling fan. Is it rotating?
It is also possible that the filter is dusty and needs to be cleaned/replaced.
(all projectors have a cooling fan and a filter to prevent dust from reaching the lamp. A faulty fan or a reduced air flow may cause an overheat problem)

When I turn my projector on within seconds it turns itself off

Are the fans all starting up? The symptom you describe is often associated with a faulty fan. Also could be a failed lamp, as the projector will shut down if the lamp does not strike within a defined time, although in this case the 'lamp' light should come on

Dell 1209S Projector, tries to turn on, and the fan comes on for 30 seconds and then goes off again. It tries this several times and then the light bulb icon comes off and it doesn't do antything else

Lamp is burned out or makes a popping sound.
When the lamp reaches its end of life, it may burn out and may make a loud popping sound.
If this occurs, the projector does not turn back on. To replace the lamp, see on page 38.
LAMP light is solid amber If the LAMP light is solid amber, replace the lamp.
LAMP light is blinking amber If the LAMP light and the Power light are blinking amber, the lamp driver has failed and the projector will automatically shut down.
If the LAMP light is blinking amber and Power light is solid blue, the color wheel has

Unplug the power cord after 3minutes then turn the display on again. If this problem
persists, contact Dell™.

After turning on within 30 sec it turns off.

If the bulb is new, check the following:cooling fan-once the lamp turns on it will start heating up and the thermostat sensor will (for safety reasons) shut off the system. If the fans runs fine, humm this will eventually lead you inside the unit...it will be the color wheel-you need to replace it.Often they are the problematic part of DLP aside from the lamp. But this happens too if the bulb needs replacing.

Fan error

The fan may have been knocked or damaged when you replaced the lamp, the only thing I could suggest is to try and go to the menu very fast and try and enable the fans, you could try and get a dealer to do this for you if they will.

Hi we have an infocus 4805 and had to store it (very carefully) for 5 months. Now when we come to use it there is a light for about 30 secs if you look down the lens and then nothing. The bulb had hours of...

Hi,
After storage for a while one of the fans may be stuck causing the over heat safety circuit to shut down the projector. Use a bright flashlight & look in vented areas for fans & use a popsicle stick, thin plastic straw or suitable while unplugged (do not use anything metal) & give all the fans you see a little push to turn them around some. Also remove the lamp cover & remove the lamp & push the cooling fan inside the lamp compartment to loosen it up. Put the lamp back in & replace the cover & then plug it back in, wait 5 minutes then try starting it up again.
Just one of many things that can be wrong but worth a try. Good Luck,
Jim

INFOCUS Lamp replacement

chances are its the projector itself that you are having an issue with, one more thing that you can do is for you to clean the filters, try cleaning the filters and try reinstalling the lamp, then power it back on, if you are getting the same thing still, have the projector service or if within warranty have it replaced. best i got. Thanks for using Fixya!

Projector restarts after 30 minutes or so

Hi jamble77

This sounds like a faulty Ballast ( lamp's powersupply ) if it made a grinding noise and now the Projector shuts on and off intermittently.

I would advise you to rather have the part replaced than repaired , as in most cases the Ballast almost always returns with the same problem if repaired a couple of months down the line.

Compaq MP2800 Lamp powers down after a few seconds

Hi Wayne

It is normal for the lamp's fan to start running , but should actually happen within 15 seconds of starting up. Try changing the lamp's fan and if the problem still persists then you will have to replace the Ballast ( lamp's powersupply )
