Question about Dehumidifiers

1 Answer

I have an indoor pool with a DCA2000-OC dehumidifier. For the last few weeks, the windows have been fogging up and there is a tremendous amount of condensation on the ceiling. It is damaging the paint and drywall near the windows. There is flow through the vent, into the dehumidifier, and the screen is clean. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Pool dehumidifiers are similar to an air conditioning unit, but often have a few different bells and whistles that make them a different animal to work on...they are far beyond the scope of even the above average DIY Joe....
You need to call a QUALIFIED service technician that has experience with pool dehumidifers...

Hello, why does my dehumidifier goes on and off every 4 minutes, last year was working fine, started the machine last week ans now it goes on and off, thanks

Serge,
Most dehumidifiers work on a thermostat, and yours probably got turned down. You might look on the top and see if there are any knobs and try to adjust it that way.

Fan not working, outlet is live, product is 6 mos old, located in an indoor swimming pool (endless swim machine) Hi E Dry 100,

If the fan does not operate with the fan switch set "on", there is a problem with the power supply, internal wiring, or the fan itself.

First make sure the dehumidifier is plugged in to a working outlet.

Next unplug the dehumidifier and remove the cabinet cover. Check the internal wiring for loose connections.

Next remove the fan and check that it is able to spin freely (by hand). If it spins freely, it should be replaced. Call the manufacturer at 1-800-533-7533 for parts and instructions.

Zenith ZD30 dehumidifier - 1 1/2 years old stopped working had a half bucket oc colledted water in bucket when it stopped. I checked the fuse on the circuit board and have continuity.

Unplug from wall. Take the front cover off and disconnect the 2 wires that attach to the humidity control dial. Plug back in. If it works, the problem is the humidty control dial (mine just went bad). With it unhooked, it will run constantly, but will still turn off when the bucket is full. To turn off, simply unplug.

No water accumulating

Hi,
There are many reasons for a dehumidifier2_bing.gif to not work or collect water.
Here is a tip that I wrote to help people to figure out what is going wrong with their dehumidifier2_bing.gif.

Dehumidifier is running but no water is in bucket

My Haier dehumidifier Model #39R171E is operating intermittently. The bucket is not full - power is on - temp in room says 59- do I increase the humidity to get it to work? Have a large amount of water in...

If your carpet is wet ... like mine was ... the best thing to do is bite the bullet and get the carpet out of your basement or where ever it is ... so your dehumidifier has a chance.

You reduce the % on the machine to reduce the humidity in your room. You should probably also get some fans going.

I have removed my carpet and padding and everything that I can reasonably remove from the room. I have 4 fans going and 2 dehumidifiers and two sump pumps. I also keep the windows open in the day time because it is more dry outside than in the basement. I have heat in the basement which I run at night. My goal is to save my house from damage due to moisture. It will be a good month for the electric company, that is for sure.

I'm sorry you are in this perdiciment ... I'm sorry for me too. My carpet was less than a year old and we have not had any water in the basement for 30 years.

Can you Recommend a12 volt DC powered dehumidifier required for nights when the Flying bridge on my launch windows fog up when cold outside?

It might be easier to by a dc converter and use any dehumidifier you want. Depending how cold it is and below dewpoint it might not make much difference. http://www.my-air-conditioner.com

Dehumidifiers and how they work
Heat pump dehumidifiers

Dehumidifiers use a heat pump (similar to an air conditioner's heat pump) or chemical adsorbents to remove moisture from the air without cooling the air.

A heat pump dehumidifier uses a fan to draw indoor air over a heat exchange coil. The coil is almost freezing. The water in the air condenses on the coil and is drained. A second heat exchange coil reheats the air, which the dehumidifier exhausts into the room.

A heat pump dehumidifier dumps heat lost from the compressor and fan motors into the air. It returns to the indoor air the heat generated by the dehumidifier turning water vapour to liquid. I got this off the internet

Dehumidifier

After reading comments and complaints from other frustrated Maytag owners, I just went out and bought a new LG EnergyStar dehumidifier. I'm taping the receipt inside a plastic bag, along with the user manual, to the side of the machine. Hope this one works for a LONG time! Ronnisue
