Router problems I have a Lynksys Wireless router that when I enter my user and password only displays a blank page. I am connected directly to the router but need to change a setting but I cannot see any of the internal items.

When asked for username use admin and password leave it empty
then goto

SETUP -> WIRELESS SETUP -> MANUAL WIRELESS CONNECTION SETUP -> WIRELESS SECURITY MODE and select "Enable WPA > WPA -> WPA Key -> create your own password and save now if you want to access the Wireless connection you will have to enter the WPA key you just created.

I see that you are having issues with your network connection, I believe that you are trying to connect wireless on both systems.

* Check your Linksys for settings that limit the routers wireless connection, most wireless routers have an option on how many computers can connect wireless to the router, a wireless signal does not chose what OS to allow for a wireless connection.

* get in your Linksys Routers Setting page from IE or Firefox using your Default gateway IP from there on you can check your Routers settings, user name depends if your internet service provider changed the Routers user name and password but for a Linksys try admin / password or admin / admin for the User name and Password field.

Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. If you are still not able to access router with above ip then you need to RESET it for that press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router then all settings defaults..Then you can access it with above method. . Then click on wireless->wireless security->WEP security there is code password note down it or enter new password then save setting s and restart router. then you can connect wireless with new password. There are lots of factor why you have that kind of problem when it comes to your router. Before following the steps in this, check if your computer has a stable Internet connection when connected directly to your broadband modem. If you do not have a stable Internet connection with your modem, kindly contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

May I know what is the model and version of your Linksys router?

If you run into Intermittent Wired Connections Using a Router:

Step1: Enabling MTU on the Router

- Access the router's web-based setup page.

- Open a web browser such as Internet Explorer.

- Go to the Address bar and enter your router's IP address ("192.168.1.1" is the default IP of most Linksys routers) then press [Enter].
NOTE: If the IP address of the router has been changed, type the router's IP address in the Address bar instead.

- A new window will prompt for a User name and Password. Leave the User name field blank then enter your router's password ("admin" is the default password), then click OK.

- NOTE: If the password of the router has been changed, type the router's new password in the Password field instead.

Step2: When the router's web-based setup page appears, look for MTU and set it to Manual. Enter the MTU value of your Internet connection in the Size field.

1468. The size DHCP or cable providers prefer.

1400. Maximum size for DSL.

Step3: Save settings.

Are you speaking about the wireless network password?
For this you will need to access the setup page of the router?
Connect the computer to the router with the Ethernet cable.
open the setup page of the router.
Go to wireless tab and change the wireless settings.
If you want to change the ' Router ' password then go to administration tab and change the router password.

You can enable WEP on your router to make your wireless network secure.

To access the screen of the router, type the ip address of the router in the address bar of Internet explorer or Firefox. By default the ip address of the router is 192.168.1.1. If this doesn't work, go to the command prompt (Start -> run -> type cmd). Type ipconfig. Copy the default gateway.

It will prompt you for a user name and password. By default leave the user name blank and then type admin in the password field.

Once you are in the Linksys screen, go to the Wireless tab -> Wireless security.

For the security mode, select WEP.

WEP encryption: 64bits 10 hex digits.

On the Passphrase field, type a wireless password of your choice, then click Generate.

It will give you a key. You will need to copy the wireless network key because you will need to enter this key on your PS3 and laptop. Take note that this is also case sensitive.

Once you click save settings, it will disconnect all your wireless computers.

You will need to manually enter the wireless network key on all your wireless devices. Without the network key, other computers will not be able to connect to your network.

First you must be sure you are connected to the router (by wireless or cable). Than you have to open a browser and access 192.168.1.245. You will be asked for an username and passowrd. Username case leave it blank and the password is admin
To set a password for wireless you need to go to wireless configuration. For more detailed info look in the users guide at chapter 3. You can find user guide here : http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/products/WAP54G

Have you set up your lynksys to allow wireless QoS? If not go to your lynksys broadband wireless software. If you don't know how enter 192.168.1.1 into your explorer bar, log in with lynksys, default is top line blank password 'admin', go to Applications and Gaming tab and enable Wireless QoS, you'll also see all of the places to establish and open ports for specific applications.

If you're talking about the password for the router to access it setup page, the deafult password for it is admin just leave the user name blank, if it doesn't work the next thing that you need to do is to reset the router by pressing the reset button for 10 seconds and the router will be back to it default settings with default password admin..
But if you talking about the wireless security key or WEP/WPA key you can get that by accessing the router setup page and typing 192.168.1.1 on the addresss of the working computer then admin for the password, then if you already have that page just go to the wireless tab then there's a sub tab there that says wireless security that where you can get the wireelss key..
