Tube tv where the screen is crushed into 2 inches

I have a old tube tv that most times has a crushed screen, but if I hit it on the right side it will sometimes go to a full screen. That will work until I turn it off for a while, then it will go back to the crushed screen. Is there anything lose, that I would be able to fix? If there is anything else you could suggest that would be appreciated, I am trying to find a way to fix it by myself.

The problem is likely to be poor solder connections at the vertical IC. This is a small flat IC witharound 11 pins attached to a heatsink. If you can read the letters on the IC, it will be LA7837 or something similar. Resolder the pins and try the set. That should resolve the problem. Please note that there are potentiallty dangerous high voltages present inside the set, even when unplugged.

I have an old tube tv screen, 19 inch. Fable 3 just does not seem to want to fit properly. I am missing about an inch on all sides. I am pretty sure my xbox settings are right.

Most 360 games are made for High Definition Widescreen now.

Have you got an aspect ratio button on your remote? Try switching it to 16:9, and changing your Xbox settings to "Widescreen". You may get the two black strips top and bottom, but the game should look fine. I hope this works for you, as I know how annoying that can be!

the ring is called a "crush" bushing it seals by: (crushing) reducing it's diameter around the supply tube; it can be used only one time as it deforms to seal. each time you remove cut the tube with the old ring off ;put the threaded valve cap with the hole in it (for the tube) threaded side facing the valve on the cut tube; then slip a new ring on the tube and, screw the cap on the valve

Good day.

The problem with your unit is that when your tube was replaced, it was not degaussed or demagnitized. The purpose of such is to distribute the color evenly unto the entire television matrix.
You can try to demagnetized it by rotating a magnet around the surface( but not so near) of the picture tube while it is operating.

Also, please check for the degaussing coil around the rear portion of the tube was returned and also check for loose contacts.

It could be a bad solder connection on either the crt drive board that attaches to the neck of the picture tube, the video processing circuits on the main printed circuit board or the picture tube itself. If you can lightly bang the sides or top of the set to get the symptom to come/go, then it is most likely a bad connectiion. If, when the screen goes green, you see fine white lines diagnonally across the screen about a half inch apart, then it is likely the picture tube.
