This is a Voltage tester, not a circuit tester

This is for testing voltages at outlets, switches, light fixtures and
    appliances. Not circuits.

Hi, I have a gogo mobility scooter...when the key is pushed nothing happens, no sound, no indicator, i checked connection, batteries are charged, lever is in the right position...any idea what could b

Get a 24v circuit tester http://www.amazon.com/OEM-25886-6-24V-Circuit-Tester/dp/B0014WIVX6

Connect the black lead to the negative side of the battery open the tiller head and expose the key switch, use the probe end of the circuit tester to probe the two wire connections, one connection should have 24volts on it.If there is no voltage at the key switch this means you don't have power getting to the tiller head. Check the cable that connects the tiller head to the body of the scooter, that both sides are plugged in and tight. Check all breakers, fuses, check all the wires in that they hide the fuses all over the place. Unplug and replug checking for pushed pins. You can start at the battery and chase the 24volt thought the wiring. The beauty of the circuit tester is that long sharp probe. Its perfect for sliding down the side of a wire in order to reach a pin on a connector.. If 24v is present on the pin the tester will light up, So if on one side it lights up but on the other side it doesn't pull the connector apart and reconnect to re-seat the pins, look for pushed pins. Hope this helps

Circuit tester when plugged into 3 pronged plug, comes up with 2 green lights and 1 yellow light. There is no code on other side of tester to access this problem

Circuit analyzer does not show all possible problems, and tester might be defective.
Use analyzer on other outlets.
Buy another circuit analyzer.
Buy a multimeter at local hardware, and test for voltage, and continuity, and compare with known outlet that are functioning correctly.
For example outlet may be 240Volt instead of 120V.
Copy following links to see typical circuit analyzer and code:

Not getting power when plugged in.

Hi,you may as well checked socket connecting the source. Now try to diagnose the problem.Try to connect other appliances using the source where dishwashers initially connected. If it didn't work there is a problem with your socket. If it does work. You can check the continuity of the circuit of yuor dishwasher using an ELECTRICAL TESTER/MULTITESTER.Set it to OHMS then connect both ends of the tester .If reading moves.or tester pointer moves at least to the maximum value or at least 90% of it.It means it does work.no problem with the continuityI but If it moves more than its maximum amount short circuit happened within the circuit..Continuity will test if short circuit happend, if there is a continues connection within the circuit .It tests if IC's inside the circuit has not been short circuited due to overheating..hope this helps..

Have a GE gas dryer and I just replaced the ignighter. The dryer worked twice before it stoped glowing. How can I test the coils to see if this is the problem.

You'll need a circuit tester which is able to reach the ignitor. Check the circuit to ensure adequate amps reach ignitor coil. If the tester indicates a fault or short any new ignitor will simply fail after a use or 2. Also check the gas line were it enters the dryer. Many have an auto shutoff which cuts the gas off if it detects a problem. Some models also cut power as well.

BLOWS AIR BUT NOT HOT OR COLD

hi! there, so your fan blower is fine, you gonna do is to find your ac source supply to your compressor as well your heating element switch off first your ac then if there over load preset relay check and reset, switch on if you find ok, good, there are things to check in this case if nothing happen.,take some tools clamp ammeter tester, screw driver, but this should be done by qualified a/c technician on a/c service technician,if you have the gots let move, be sure to off again you unit, on control circuit board panel there is a holding coils relay where your compressor get ac supply source open it by scerw driver try to find or using your diagram manual it help, check the resistance of your relay coil, set tester on R1 then test rod of tester attach to both end of terminal relay coil, if deflected the pointer of tester your ralay is good.but if not you have to replace your relay on circuit board, but sometime the circuit board is replaced.check also your thermostat disconnect it and test both terminal using tester rod also if deflected the pointer its fine if not your thermostat is defective your compressor will not run if you have busted thermostat.if all are find and replace put it back the cover of panel control and switch is on.observed take all precaution in doing this.regards and have a nice day from fixya.

I have 6 outlets that do not work.

I would start by determining if these 6 outlets are on the same circuit. Also I am usually not too confident in the non contact voltage tester you are using. They tend to give false positives if they contact anything or even if you move them fast. I would invest in an inexpensive multimeter whcih will allow you to test actual voltage across the poles and ground and also check for continuity between poles/ground (WITH CIRCUIT OFF ONLY).

Did these outlets previously work properly?
