Question about Troy ExtendNet 100x Print Server

3 Answers

I have a Troy 2900a or Extendnet 100x print server. It has three printer ports and I need to be able to configure the other two ports to print on the network. I've logged into the print server and looked at all the configuration options to no avail.

Yes I have shared the printers. My problem is that the print server only allows one IP address ( the IP address of the print server) to configure. I want to assign an IP to each port in the print server and I have not seen any option to do so after being logged into the server itself. I have TCP IP ports configured on the windows printer properties. But as you know I can't assign the same TCP/IP port to multiple printers and even if I could I would need a way to differentiate b/w them. And like I said, I haven't seen any option to assign a static IP to specific ports on the Troy print server. That would be ideal but I haven't seen the option to do so in the print server config.

    Hello Rylee,

I'm new to Fixya so I'm not sure if you received the last reply. I didn't see any indication of my post.

But anyways, my problem is with the print server itself. I have the printers shared on the windows server and assigned them a TCP/IP port. There are 3 printers on a rack with the Troy 2900a server connecting them to the network. The print server is working fine as far as I know. I can log into it by accessing the print server's IP from a web browser. I have the login/pw. I was perusing the configuration options but still can't find anything that would allow me to assign a static IP to specific parallel ports on the print server. The first port on the print server works just fine. I assigned the printer properties' port to the same IP address as the print server and it will print fine. But I can't assign the same IP to the other two printers because it would be a port conflict. So how do I get the other two printers (ports) on the troy server to integrate in the network, preferably with static IP adresses? Maybe I'm missing something in the print server configuration? But if so, it isn't very obvious to me.

    Thanks again,

    PLackey

I have a Troy 2900a (Extendnet 100x) print server connecting 3 printers in a rack all with parallel connections. I have the printers shared on the windows server and they're configured with TCP/IP ports. Right now only the printer plugged into the 1st port is working. It has an IP address that is the same as the print server. I have logged into the print server and looked for a way to assign a static IP address to the other ports. I haven't seen the option available but they were working before assigned to their own IP addresses so I know it can be done. Right now only one is printing and it's the one that has the same IP address as the print server assigned to it. So basically I'm just looking for a way to assign static IP addresses to port's on the print server for the last two printers in the rack. So if you can give me some instructions on how to configure this troy 2900a (extendnet 100x) print server I would greatly appreciate it.

I appreciate your time. But I'm not having problem with the windows side of things. I just need to know how to configure this specific model of print server (Troy 2900a Extendnet 100x) to assign a static IP to a parallel port on the server. I know it sounds simple but if you could see the archaic configuration on this print server you would be appalled.

I've configured a Troy 100-d, which has two parallel ports, successfully, and may be able to help. If you're still trying to solve this, send an email to me at gordonr3@mindspring.com with a phone number, so I can call you.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. You’ll need to share the printers. If the printers are different than install all the printer drivers. For detailed description to configure the other two ports to print on the network please follow the step-by-step procedure on the link---

Print on network

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

    Yes you’re
right I didn’t get the second post and provided the solution on the basis of
initial issue. However, the easiest way to connect three printers with one
computer you may use a USB Hub.
Now connect the port marked 'in' to
your computer. Connect the printers to any of the other ports on the Hub which
will also allow for the connection of other peripherals. The other way is to assign
all the printers different IP addresses which you easily understand. Please
also see the link for step-by-step procedure for this method---

Does ExtentNet 100x support Zebra printer language ZPL2?

It doesn't support it directly, but it shouldn't prevent it from working. However it might be sending extraneous PJL commands between print jobs (example @PJL -12345X) which could mess up a label. ZPL is basically ASCII, the ExtendNet shouldn't prevent ASCII delivery.

Unable to print Zebra labels on a Zebra 105 SL printer. Sending the label from an I-Series computer through the EntendNet 100x print server to the Zebra printer. Does ExtendNet 100x support Zebra ZPL2...

A print server should just be a 'through-put' device, and the codes should go fine. ZPL-ZPL2 codes are subequently sent as comms to the printer port. Are you using seria; or parallel input to printer?
Yo can capture the codes to a file, and review if they are correct. The file would have to be viewed in a hex editor.(write to a file through the driver)
I routinely use different mfg. of print servers for thispurpose if the printer does not have an internal ethernet port. The only problem I have run into is a problem in network where a slow download is enountered.

How i know the IP address assgined to the print server? once this how can I change it?

According to this site http://www.argecy.com/xtnd100s.html it it supports the use of HP's JetAdmin/Web JetAdmin utility which will allow you to configure the IP address as well as other features.

"Features such as full support for HP JetAdmin/Web JetAdmin"

Utility located here:

That same site also has this information about the ExtendView utility which may help you as well.

TROY LAN Administration Tools
  • ExtendView - 32-bit utility allowing most versatility and functionality available in network printing. Ability to view and configure print servers from unlimited number of views and quick and easy Windows IP address assignment are 2 key benefits. Features such as bulk configuration allow configuration changes for multiple print servers with simple steps. Save and restore feature allows a standard configuration to be saved and later recalled to restore same configuration
  • WebView - web based configuration tool allows complete status and configuration changes simply by typing the print server's IP address into a standard web browser
  • NetworkAlert - specialized Windows printer error utility providing proactive notification of printer problems through the use of SNMP traps
  • ExtendNet Connect - serverless (peer-to-peer) printing for Windows 95/98. Excellent tool for small businesses and remote offices
  • ExtendNet Connect NT - performance enhanced port monitor helps to improve the speed of data flow to the printer

I want to connect the print server ESI9132079.i need drivers for this print server.

hi,

Download and read the manual of this print server.
http://silexamerica.com/us/products/pdf/xtnd/dx-sx.pdf

You only need the actual printer drivers not the print server driver (there is no such thing for print server drivers). Once you connect to network and to Print server, you should be able to see what brand printer is connected to server such as HP, Epson, Fujixerox, Samsung, etc.

Hope this helps

Did you connect it hrough a swirch with a network cable, or to a pc with a crossover? It is not a smart adapter, can't do midi or tx.

WANT TO CONFIGURE IT

First make sure the PS is hard wired to the router and you have all the wireless settings handy (including the SSID and Wireless Encryption). Then follow the step by step instructions in the file given below: ftp://downloads.netgear.com/files/netgear1/ps104105110inst_eng.pdf Also, the printer with the ethernet cable seems to be a network printer. So, you need to do much to configure it, if its already configured; just connect it to one of the ethernet ports of the PS. Please revert back with any other queries.
