    Hi Technical114...

Thank you for speedy reply.. But it's the sucket on the back of the subwoofer, it has a maleJack to go in there as well. I took the whole plate half out so I could see inside and it looks weird for me... I though that it was easy, just open and replace, but no. It looks like it's in a closed plastikbox. Please write me back if you got any ideas, Thank you. Kropotkin@live.dk

Kropotkin here... I fixed the problem ;-) .. I used 3 toothpicks and superglue. First I sat one toothpick in the bottom of the split, so that it was open in the top. Then I took the second toothpick and dipped in superglue and gently slid it in the split, so that the plasticsucket had glue on both sides. Then I removed the first pick and stuck 2 toothpicks on the outside of the sucket, between the hole of the backplate and the sucket, so now the sucket got a little superglue in the split and fresure from the outside. I waited a few minutes, removed the picks and stuck in my jack... And Yiihaa, perfect sound again. Thanks a lot from Denmark!!

I assume that you mean the plug that is at the computer's side. If the internal cut of the cable (this is a common problem) is very close to the plug, you will need replacement part (3,5mm stereo male jack) and soldering gun. If it is some centimeters away, you can just cut and remove the part of the cable with the problem and reconnect the 3 internal cables that are in the 1 cable you are using.

In that case you will need, except the replacement jack, soldering gun and knowledge of how to solder. So I suggest you to get the sub at a technician. In any case that the "broken" jack on the back of the sub is too difficult for him to find (as replacement), suggest him to connect some kind of short cables (10 or 20 cm is enough) right at the epoxy (or whatever is inside the sub) and at the other end ask him to solder the jack that is broken (a new one).

Hello Kropotki. I'm glad that you recovered your broken jack with this "cheap" solution. Be carefull each time you plug in or out the jacks at your sub because, as you already know, super glue is just a temporary solution.

Altec lansing mx5021 wired controller not working

Sounds like you might have a wire loose at the other side of the controller. This is a easy thing to find out. Just unscrew the side screws that hold the back board to the cabinet. Don't unscrew the screws connected to the speaker wire clips unless the back doesn't come off. Just look for a disconnected wire at the controller jack then put it back. If there is no loose wire then you might have a bent female contact at the outside of the controller jack. You would have to look for this looking into the holes where you plug the cable into the controller jack. If you see a bent contact then use a thin nail of ice pick and insert it into the hole where the bent connector is to try to re open the contact so the cable can slip into it easy. Don't forget to unplug the power first.

The transformer of my sub-woofer is burnt. When i take it to the repair shop, they say that the transformer is not available. I badly need to fix the speaker as i love them very much and the new ones are...

Sub woofers have small amplifiers , not transformers. The amplifier is removable and replaceable. The The overall size and the output wattage are the spec's you need . The output wattage is on the label which is attached somewhere on the speaker. You do NOT need to replace the amp with the Altec Lansing brand. Have you contacted Altec Lansing to purchase a replacement Amp? That's where I would start. If they cannot help you I would Google replacement amp sub-woofer, Altec Lansing model MX5021.
good luck

My altec lansing mx5021 speakers problem

The problem I have found is the contact glue between the back panel and circuit board inside the sub woofer. The glue becomes conductive after some time (2 years..!!) and needs to be scraped away from across tracks, you can tell the problem areas as the glue is pale yellow but goes brown and conductive over time. Good luck.

Screws included for wall mounting don't fit (Altec Lansing MX5021)

They do fit but the hole in the speakers are very small so you have to apply a bit of force to screw them in.
