Thanks. How do I bleed the air out of the system?

  • mrimmer369 May 06, 2010

I have just thought of something that may be material. The "old" location was off bottle gas, but the new house has gas from the mains. Does that make a difference?

Good Morning,
I am attaching a link, it is the installers guide,
there are a couple of things that I would check first, did you bleed the air out of the gasline before trying to start the system? Another common issue is the polerity of the electrical plug, reverse the plug leads, it is very common with units that have computer boards to lock out, and since it is in a new location, reverse the plug wires and then follow the reset proccedure in the manual.
Please contact me back if I can help you further. Have a great day.
Sincerely,
Paul Gibson

Oh, Yes,, that is a major problem! Natural gas operates at 3.5 pressure and propane operates at 11.5 to 12 pounds. So what is happening is that the safeties are working and shutting the system off. The only way to fix this is to buy a propane to natural gas kit from Rinnai or a Rinnai dealer, and then change out the orifices and spring kit.

Clicking noise Rinnai Avenger Gas heater

Is sounds like it could be the automatic ignition. If the sound only happens when you are pressing or turning the knob, I would say that is all that it is. Most gas heaters have an ignition switch under the knob. This triggers the ignition to try and spark. light the gas when the knob is depressed.

Paul, the Error Code Fault 13, indicates a Combustion Control Fault. This could mean, not enough gas for safe combustion or to much gas for continued operation. In any event, if requires a service call from an authorized Rinnai Service Technician to solve.

Just in case you have misplaced your Owner's Manual, I have included a link to it, that you can download and print for future reference.
