Question about Maytag Neptune FAV6800AW Top Load Washer
On the washing cycle the machine has a whining sound. I suppose it could be better said when it's agitating the clothes. Does this mean I should replace the belts, motor or something is more simple than that. Thank you Master.

You should reove the belt and check for roughness in the way the water pump bearings "feel". If they are tighter one way than the other you may have "string" or something wound inside the pump or bad bearings. also do thew same test on the motor it should spin free both directions also. And check the "thrust" the in and out play on both shafts. Lastly check the transmisssion mAIN DRIVE PULLY for true and streightness a warped or bent pulley could cause a noise problem but usually will do the same noise in either direction.
