I have a fd100 credit card machine and today stopped printing the paper run and looks like is out of ink I actually opened and did not see how and where to change any tape or so any help?

This is a thermal printer. There is no ink. It uses heat to burn print on the paper. As long as paper is loaded correctly and spitting out, there is nothing you can do except get it repaired. Make sure you are using thermal paper and not a standard roll.

if you could check the paper that you are using. make sure thermal. also scratch the paper, if a black mark appears this is the side that goes down in the paper holder, if you don't see a black line you don't have thermal paper. also make sure it is credit card machine and not adding machine paper. if you have another roll try that one. if persist. make sure the paper is hitting the thermal reader. there is no ink

Restaurant pro express; upgraded to new computer. Credit card processor won't work. call PC america and they want a boatload of cash to help. want to ditch this system soon, so don't want to pay....


You didn't say who the processor was. Many require a software program to interface with RPE that you need to install on new computer. Contact your processing company and they should point you in the right direction, if they want your business.

You should be getting a tip line along with signature line. In your case, because you are not running cc thru the POS system, you either run the card twice or wait till customer adds tip to run it. Neither is very good situation. An MSR is cheap, lets the system do the work, and tips are settled before you batch credit cards.
If you are not getting a tip line, could it be you setup your company as a quick serve. This stops a tip line.

I need to add a tip line for credit card transactions. This has been fixed 4 times before and keeps coming back to haunt me.


Go to your OPTIONS screen, choose SETUP, click on the SETUP SCREEN, click the RESTAURANT FEATURES tab, then click the TIPS tab. Choose YES for the first option. You can also print a suggested tip and percentage underneath this, if desired.

Service charge for credit cards


Really? That's the cost of doing business. You can write that expense off on you taxes, they can't. Take a moment and rethink your question. If you still plan on going through with this plan let me know the name of the restaurant so I can make sure I never go there.

I want to change the way information is printed on our detailed daily report in Restaurant Pro Express. "Credit card sales" and "tips collected" print out seperately. I'd like them to be reported together...


unfortunately as far as i've experienced, there is no way to change reports at all unless you use advanced reporting, but those won't print to the receipt printer.

I am trying to set up my First Data FD100 credit card machine to work with RPE, but am having problems doing so.


I don't think this machine will work within RPE. You should verify this with the vendor that sold you RPE. However, you can set RPE to manually accept credit cards and swipe them seperately with the FD100. Everything will report OK, it just takes more steps and more receipt slips.

Or you can set RPE to process with First Data and buy an MSR to attach to PC to swipe cards. Much quicker process and only RPE receipt(s).

if you're using PCC, you should try to process directly through the PCC program, if that works, most likely the only thing you have to do is go in to RPE, then setup screen and set the directory where PCC is (usually this is active charge directory for payment server, or pcw for pccharge pro, they both work but i believe its only OFFICIALLY supported with payment server)
