Question about Oregon Scientific Complete Carburetor for Stihl 4122 Brush Cutter and 4226HS Hedge Trimmer

Open Question

Stihl ms 192 T chainsaw. cranks ok, will idle fine and i can slowly pump the throtle to get it to accelerate, but when i try to accelerate full throtle it dies out. have already put a carb kit on it. plus just replaced fuel pickup filter. what is the round piece that is by the carberator that has 1 fuel line ran to it, it looks like either a vent or what i was thinking like a type of pvc valve or check valve? thank you for any support

Hello Willard; 1 - My knowledge base for Stihl is very limited. That said I know they plug up mufflers and spark arrestors faster than any other make. Have you tried cleaning it? If this solves the problem please post back and I will close your question. 2 - I suspect you are correct and it is a fuel vent. If Stihl allowed IPLs it would be simple to answer; sigh. 3 - Lou, Good Luck

SOURCE: Stihl FS81(older style) brushcutter.New Carby dies under throttle

The problems you are having sounds very much like a blocked exhaust port/silencer. On these small two stroke machines it is normally the cause of lack of power or not revving. Happy gardening !!

SOURCE: cuts out on acceleration

if you have over 200 hours on this FS 80 then you may need a valve adjustment(yes this 2-stroke has valves). if you wanna try to do it yourself it should be set @ 0.1mm @TopDeadCenter. my advice is take it to any stihl dealer and let them do it. its scheduled maintenance

Sounds like a carburetor adjustment issue. Try turning the screw closer to the engine, on the carburetor, SLOWLY in small increments in a counter-clockwise direction, and squeeze the throttle between moments letting it settle back to idle until it will accelerate and run. Then, fine tune it; the more you go in, the less fuel mix and the leaner the idle, the more you come out, the richer it gets and the response should pick up.

Stihl fs55rc crab problem willnot run full power

You probably need to adjust your carburetor. You can slowly turn the jet closest to the air filter in 1/8 turn increments while at full throttle and check the response. Ear protection is necessary to be able to distinguish the RPMs from the audio pitch of the running engine.

I have a stihl 021 chainsaw that will crank and idle fine however it will not throttle up to full speed ,it will accelerate to about half, then it just like chokes out.

For the 021...on the muffler, there is a spark arresting screen, this is to prevent sparks from coming out of the muffler. It is common for this screen to become clogged with carbon from the engine. You will need to clean/replace this screen in order for it to run correctly.
