My Optimus oscillating heater works for about 10mins and then overheats causing it to shut off. It shouldn't be overheating in my beyond cold living room.

Let's see if we can figure this out together-- Here are a few questions we need to know to start trouble-shooting:
How old is the unit?-- Is it a Pedestal or Floor Mount unit-- or one of the newer TOWER models?
Some have remote Temperature sensors-- does your?
Can you hear the fan running-- does it sound like it did when it was new? When it first turns on, is the heat coming out, nice and warm?-- and is the fan nicely pushing the heat out?

Let me know, and we will advance to the next step-- Mack

Overheat protection shut the unit off after about twenty minutes.

compressor over heat is usually caused by the cooling fan next to it not running. Could be a wire came off since it is new or maybe something keeping the fan blades from turning. With out a brand and model I'm just guessing.

Why does my PTHP. shut off and switch to electric resistance heat?

im guessing its there way of defrosting the coils , as with this type (small) its tough to defrost the coils in an efficient way , hp runs normal to within one or two degrees of setpoint , hp shuts off or reverses in low speed , back up heat comes on to complete the room heat and to generate the heat needed to defrost the coils , entire unit shuts off when set point is reached , reversing valves set for heat and wait till next cycle

now mine does something slightly different : it runs for fifteen minutes and if set point is not reached it switches to back up and reverses the coils ,leaves compressor on (low speed) , this heats the coils up and defrosts the outdoor unit , and if it runs long enough twenty minutes total time , it goes back to normal and aux heat shuts off . this drives me insane thinking how much im spending on heating the outside !! but im sure its needed to prevent ice build up on outdoor coils ,and I sure don't want that cracking with ice formations

Why does my projector keep switching itself off?

This sounds like an overheating issue, with the temperature sensor shutting it off when it gets too hot for safety reasons. Assuming this did not start until after you replaced the lamp, my initial guess would be that either the wrong lamp was used, and it's generating more heat than the unit feels comfortable with, or, the temperature sensor itself is going bad.

My outside condensing unit on my central air unit shuts dow when my thermostat is still calling for cold air. I have to shut down stat and breaker to unit and re start after an hour or so and the the unit...

My first guess is a dirty outdoor coil would give same symptoms you are having, high head pressure caused by the lack of air flow thru the coil, preventing proper heat rejection.

Stop by any good auto parts store like Autozone, Advance, etc.. and have them do a free OBII scan for you to read all the fault codes. I'm only guessing after reading what you replaced you might need to replace O2 sensor(s) but instead of throwing parts at it, get the fault codes and go from there.

I have an Estate by Whirlpool driver model TEDX640PQ0. The dryer is not heating at all, and when on Auto Sense it runs all nite and only shuts off if you shut it off, but will shut off on timer setting,...

My guess is, your heating element has gone out. Yes, you can fix it if you're so inclined to.
Here is a link to a set of manuals, including a parts list manual... this will help you in obtaining your part and illustrates how the unit is assembled.

I hope this helps you... Good luck!
