Sorry to hear of your predicament. There is no such thing as IC protection fuse on a mother board. Once opposite polarity is given to the board, that is the end of the board. MAY BE, someone can repair it, but I would not recommend it as a repaired board is a repaired board as they dont last long enough.

This will have totally ruined the Motherboard they are extreamly sensitive to Revers polarity, this is one of the ONLY ways to completely ruin a PC. No Fuse Diode or anything can prevent this damage.

Bm5a blows fuse when turned on

Blowing a fuse means that it has a dead short. The fuse does its job by protecting the other components while the circuit fails. Something is definitely burned out inside.

Canon powershot "A570 IS" is dead I'm looking for location of fuses on pcb

Cameras do not typically have fuses for protection as they have specific batteries that will not damage the pcboard in the camera. If any components were damaged you would probably need to have it replace.

IC-736 total failure whilst on air, fuse OK, nothing smelt burning etc, not over heated, no voltage surge, SWR was moderate but protected by APC circuit. Totally dead now.

Hi Jack, (No Pun Intended)

As this is such a fine radio, I would take it to the radio doctor for a once over check-up, The technician will find the problem and give you an estimate of cost to repair the fault, Take care of you radio, it's a great unit that should give you many more years of service.

I hope this advice is of help to you.

Asrock motherboard no error code display.

No fuse, the protection is in the PSU. A surge will sometimes kill the ram if the anti-surge system (PSU fuse) is a "Slow Blow" type. But the surge may have killed some of the more delicate chips on the motherboard. From your description, it sounds as though you will be able to re-use the CPU and fan. Try the RAM first, you may be lucky. Hope this helps.

Does not start; no power indicator light

Take out the battery and then try the different ac adaptors. If you still get no lights on the laptop then the motherboard is bad and would need to be replaced. Just make sure that you know at least one of your ac adaptors are good.

If the adaptors have lights and they turn on then you know the ac adaptor your working with is good. Also make sure they are plugged into a good working outlet.

Power is dead

You cannot get a replacement board. The IC has to be replaced , possibly 3. These are U24 , U25 , U26. You would need specialist tools and ability to do it yourself.

Thinkpad does not respond - bizzare!

Hi, Based on your post/description that it was not the laptop that was dropped and that all the connections are snugly fitted to where they should be, the dropping of the moused caused the laptop to be dead, then it is likely that the +5VDC of the mouse cable has shorted to the ground wire. The short is reflected towards inside the motherboard of your laptop. This +5VDC is common to all the USB ports, PS2 ports, and many other parts of the laptop. The short would open up a fuse somewhere inside. I can only surmise that the power supply is involved. You may need to check that the powersupply/AC adaptor (if present) is giving juice to your laptop with the use of a VOM, since as I understand it, simply plugging in your laptop to the mains would lit an indicator that ACpower is available. Normally a surface mounted fuse is on the motherboard right after the jack where the AC adaptor plug comes in and right before a reverse protection diode. If you are uncomfortable opening your unit and would not be in a position to do component level repair, you are probably better off seeking the services of a qualified service professional. Hope this give you and idea. Good luck and kind regards.
