When you first turn on the computer, go into the BIOS and reset the defaults in there.

After the laptop goes into windows then check to see if the mousepad works.

If it doesnt then it might be cause the ribbon underneath the mousepad needs to be reseated but that will require taking the motherboard apart.

If that doesn't work then either the mousepad board is bad or the motherboard is bad.

First try installing the touchpad drivers for ur laptop...if the problem has not been solved, format the laptop once and check it out...if it still persists ,it is the hardware problem...

Acer Aspire One Netbook Touch pad mouse not working

There is a small ribbon cable that connects the touchpad to the motherboard. If there was any dramatic jostling of the system or it was disassembled for any reason it may have come undone. I have heard of this happening in the past.

If your lucky, someone just turned it off. The toggle for the mouse pad is Fn+F7 simultaneously.

Good Luck,

Mouse pad will not work...only external mouse works....even though mouse is saying enabled on control panel

A laptop has a second function. It may be that you had accidentally clicked on Fn F7 or other laptops may have different Function to disable the mouse pad. You can determine that it is the mouse pad function because it shows a picture of a "hand in a square". To enable it, just Hold Fn then click F7 or different function.

My mouse pad isnt working but a USB mouse is, tried to use Fn+F7 but didnt work. Any help?

Is there a function key on the laptop? (Fn usually blue ink) is there a key with the symbol that looks like mouse pad. Hold down Fn then the mouse pad key and that should enable the mouse pad.

As you have suggested the F7 key is the one for the mouse pad, and hasn't made any difference, have you somehow corrupted the drivers. You can download them from the acer website.

when did it last work, you cloud try a system restore. Remember to press Fn + F7 again and give it a moment to enable( just in case the last time you tried it, you turned the hardware off despite it's lack of functionality)

Locked keyboard and mousepad on acer aspire 6920G

Almost same problem: the mouse froze.

Found a nice solution at another website: switch off the pc, unplug the power supply cable AND remove battery. Press "on" switch for 20 seconds. Now re-install battery, plug back power supply cable, and switch on. Worked for me (what exactly worked for me I don't know but hey)

Good luck.
