My air handler runs with the state in off position. I can turn it off by the breaker. Goodman GSZ130361AB only 6 years old had regular service since installed.

You are probably experiencing a stuck fan relay. The fan relay could be on a control circuit board or it could be a standard old electro-mechanical relay.

My carrier programmablethermostat has no power

Check for power to the air handler.
If you have power there, check power on the low voltage side of the transformer in the air handler.
No low voltage out of the transformer is will need replacing.
There may also be a 3 to 5 amp fuse on the air handler control board that is blown.
Any auto motive fuse of the same size will replace it.

I have a fedders A24C1X air handler and i am replacing the transformer. i was instructed to buy a universal one which i did. i belive i figured out the wiring. my new ones common is white and the orange...

First check the voltage on the red and green wires on the new transformer -- it should read 24 volts AC. If this is the case, the red and green wires would go to the contactor / relay 24-volt coil terminals -- wouldn't matter which one is connected to which side of the relay coil.

I have a carrier 38ckc026 and a two zone thermostat system. both thermostat displays are blank & a/c doesnt work - what should i look for before calling an hvac repairman?

Hi,
The 24v transformer blew or if you are lucky there is a fuse in the line before the transformer...

Check in the air handler to make sure the cover is on right... then check for power to the air handler, then check ofr a fuse on the circuit board, finally check the transformer...

The problem lies in one of those things...

Air Handler: I have two 24V supply lines one from the transformer the other, I think from the condenser fan. Both wires are connected to a relay which operates the indoor blower. When the 240V power supply...

you have 24 volts from the indoor thermo to the transformer in the air handler then 24volts from air handler to the contactor when this is energized it goes to 240 volts to run the compressor and outdoor fan. Sounds like the contactor is not enegizing check the voltage at the contactor. you should have a schematic to show you the voltage.

No power to white rogers thermostat

Hi,
Either you blew the fuse on the air handler control board or you burnt out the air handler transformer.
The thing that blew the fuse is probably the contactor in the condenser unit. You will need to check out out cause of the outage before replacing the fuse or transformer.

Carrier A/C Intermittent Shut-down Problem

It sounds like there is something in the system that is over heating. A t-stat will either work or it won't there are relays that have 24v coils and can become weak. If your air handler is shutting down it shut down the condenser, if the air handler is staying on but condenser is shuting down check the outside contactor. I am an a/c contractor and can be contacted at 504-722-3946 Eddie.

Most likely the transformer is shot on the air handler. To test this go to the thermostat and move the selector to fan on, if the fan blows it's not the transformer. Let me know. THX RepairUSA
